The next morning, Li Xue woke up. She was puzzled by the dream she had the night before. How could she have such a dream? In her dream, she seemed to be a rabbit, a hungry one at that, eager to eat anything green she saw...
"..." Li Xue slapped her forehead. "I can't really be that desperate for food, can I?"
She let out a long sigh, reassuring herself, "It must be that I've been too tired and stressed lately. It's nothing a little sightseeing with some handsome foreign guys can't fix."
She got out of bed and went to freshen up. As she stepped outside, Gu Jingchen was already awake. He was dressed in a silver-gray suit, with a light blue shirt underneath. He hadn't tied his tie, and the top two buttons of his shirt were undone, faintly revealing his muscular chest.
Li Xue glanced at him but quickly looked away. Gu Jingchen watched her and smiled slightly. "You look great today."
"..." Li Xue's face flushed. "Thank you."
Gu Jingchen chuckled and stepped out. Li Xue stared at his retreating figure, feeling somewhat dazed. What was going on with him today? Why did it feel a bit off? She shook her head and decided not to think too much about it as she walked outside.
Outside, Assistant Wang and a few others were waiting. As soon as Assistant Wang saw Li Xue come out, he immediately approached her with a bright smile. "Good morning, Miss Li!"
Li Xue paused for a moment. "Good morning."
Assistant Wang grinned flatteringly. "You look really beautiful today, Miss Li."
"..." Li Xue forced a chuckle. "Thank you."
She quietly asked Gu Jingchen, "What's up with your assistant today?"
Gu Jingchen looked at her. "He's just being enthusiastic about you."
Li Xue nodded. "But I don't like it."
Gu Jingchen smiled lightly and said softly, "That's just how he is; he likes pretty girls."
"..." Li Xue was taken aback. "So he..."
Gu Jingchen glanced at Assistant Wang. "He won't do anything to you; don't worry."
Li Xue bit her lip and didn't say anything more.
The group headed downstairs, had breakfast together, and then set off for the day. The main plan was to take Li Xue around to explore the area.
Gu Jingchen had his own motives for doing this. He simply wanted to spend some time alone with Li Xue. However, Li Xue felt a bit frustrated; she had originally come to see some handsome foreigners, and now everything was disrupted by Gu Jingchen.
She couldn't help but sigh.
Gu Jingchen looked at her and asked, "What's wrong?"
Li Xue shook her head. "It's nothing."
Gu Jingchen continued to observe her. "Are you feeling bored?"
Li Xue smiled lightly. "Not really."
After thinking for a moment, Gu Jingchen asked, "Is there anywhere you want to go? I can accompany you."
Li Xue was taken aback. "You want to come with me?"
He nodded. "Yeah."
Feeling a bit shy, Li Xue replied, "No need, I can just follow you all."
Gu Jingchen furrowed his brow. "You don't want me to accompany you?"
Li Xue pressed her lips together. "That's not what I meant."
Gu Jingchen looked at her intently. "So you do want me to accompany you?"
"..." Li Xue felt somewhat helpless. "Fine, okay then."
Gu Jingchen smiled. "Good."
Li Xue felt a bit embarrassed. "I'll just go to the restroom."
Gu Jingchen nodded. "Alright."
Li Xue walked away.
Assistant Wang approached. "President, should I follow her?"
Gu Jingchen shot him a cold look. "Why would I need to follow her?"
Assistant Wang chuckled lightly. "To ensure Miss Li's safety."
Gu Jingchen cleared his throat lightly. "Then you can go check on her."
Assistant Wang paused in surprise. "Huh?"
Gu Jingchen stared at him. "What are you waiting for? Go!"
Assistant Wang looked troubled. "But I'm a man; how can I just follow her?"
Gu Jingchen's voice turned icy as he threatened, "Do you want to go to Africa instead?"
"..."
Upon hearing that, Assistant Wang immediately straightened up. "I'll go right now."
Gu Jingchen continued to glare at him. "Hurry up."
Assistant Wang turned and left.
As she watched his back, Gu Jingchen let out a cold snort.
Li Xue emerged from the restroom and spotted Gu Jingchen standing not far away. She walked over to him. "We can go now."
Gu Jingchen looked at her. "Where do you want to go?"
Li Xue thought for a moment. "Anywhere, I’m not familiar with this place."
Gu Jingchen nodded. "Alright, then I'll take care of the arrangements."
Li Xue smiled. "Sounds good."
With that, Gu Jingchen led her away.
Behind them, Wang hurriedly caught up. He muttered as he walked, "Why are you walking so fast?"

Gu Jingchen brought Li Xue to a bustling shopping street. He looked at her and said, "This is a shopping paradise. Is there anything you want to buy?"
Li Xue gazed at the dazzling array of goods lining the street, feeling a bit overwhelmed. She shook her head. "Not really."
Gu Jingchen chuckled. "Then let's just stroll around."
Li Xue nodded. "Okay."
As they walked and chatted, Li Xue suddenly felt a bit thirsty. She turned to Gu Jingchen. "I want to buy a bottle of water."
Gu Jingchen looked at her. "Wait here; I'll get it for you."
Li Xue hesitated. "No need, I can go myself."
Gu Jingchen smiled again. "You're my girlfriend; of course I have to take care of you."
Li Xue's face flushed slightly. "Well, alright then."
Gu Jingchen ruffled her hair and turned to leave.
Li Xue watched his retreating figure, feeling a bit shy.
At that moment, a man approached her.
"Excuse me, miss, could you lend me your phone?"
Li Xue paused and replied in English, "Where's your phone?"
The man sighed in frustration. "I came here with friends and accidentally lost both my wallet and phone. I just need to call my friend."
Li Xue nodded. "Alright."
She took out her phone, intending to ask the man to make a call. However, the phone was dead.
Apologetically, she looked at him and said, "I'm sorry, my phone is out of battery."
The man seemed a bit disappointed. "It's okay."
Li Xue thought for a moment and offered, "Then let me buy you a bottle of water."
The man looked at her gratefully. "Thank you."
Li Xue smiled and turned to go buy the water. Just a few steps away, she heard Gu Jingchen's voice calling her name.
"Li Xue!"
She turned around to see Gu Jingchen approaching her with a serious expression.
"What's wrong?" she asked, puzzled.
He grabbed her wrist and pulled her aside.
Li Xue was taken aback. "What’s going on?"
Gu Jingchen looked at her intently. "Who was that person just now?"
Li Xue explained, "He's a tourist from Z Country. He lost his wallet and phone and wanted to borrow mine to make a call, but my phone was dead, so I thought I'd help him buy some water."
Gu Jingchen's expression remained grave. "Don't trust strangers so easily in the future."
Li Xue was confused. "Why?"
He didn't say anything further.
At that moment, gunshots suddenly rang out in the street. Panic erupted among the crowd, screams filled the air.
Li Xue froze in shock.
Gu Jingchen quickly covered her ears and pulled her into his embrace.
Looking up at him, she asked, "What’s happening?"
"Don't be afraid," he replied calmly as he drew his handgun and chambered a round.
Li Xue gasped in surprise. "You..."
"Stay here and don't move," he instructed firmly.
Numbly, she nodded in response.
Gu Jingchen turned and walked away.
Watching his retreating figure, a sense of worry began to rise within her. Suddenly, a barrage of bullets was fired towards her direction.
Li Xue was startled. Suddenly, Gu Jingchen rushed over and knocked her down. She fell to the ground with Gu Jingchen on top of her. A bullet struck nearby.
Li Xue looked up at Gu Jingchen. "Are you okay?"
Gu Jingchen shook his head. "I'm fine." He lowered his gaze to her. "What about you?"
Li Xue shook her head as well. "I'm fine too."
Gu Jingchen smiled. "That's good." He got up and helped Li Xue to her feet.
As soon as Li Xue stood up, she noticed a patch of bright red on Gu Jingchen's chest. Her heart skipped a beat. "You... you're bleeding!"
Gu Jingchen glanced down and smiled again. "I'm fine."
Li Xue's throat tightened. "How can you be fine? There's so much blood..."
Gu Jingchen looked at her earnestly. "As long as you're okay, that's all that matters."
Li Xue felt her eyes sting. "Why did you do that?"
Gu Jingchen chuckled softly. "What do you think?"
Li Xue shook her head. "I don't know."
Gu Jingchen sighed. "You're such a fool." He took her hand in his. "Don't worry, I'll be okay. I still need to protect you."
Li Xue's eyes glistened with unshed tears. "Are you really okay?"
Gu Jingchen nodded firmly. "Yes."
At that moment, the sound of sirens grew louder as they approached.
