A Hui, known as the Class Beauty, was already stunning. She had just styled her long hair into large waves, adding a touch of maturity to her appearance. Everyone remarked that she looked even more beautiful, especially her boyfriend, Lin Ping, who couldn't stop praising her.
The day after getting her hair done, A Hui was about to head out for lunch when she ran into her class representative, Zhu Zhangwu, on campus.
"A Hui, where are you going?" he asked. Zhu Zhangwu was a student from southern Fujian and rented a room near the school. A Hui's boyfriend, Lin Ping, also rented an apartment nearby.
"Wow! Your hair looks different!" Zhu Zhangwu commented.
"I'm going to have lunch! What about you?" A Hui replied.
"It's strange to see such a pretty girl going to lunch alone. Where's your boyfriend?" Zhangwu inquired.
"He has something to do!"
"I'll go with you then!" Zhangwu volunteered.
"And what about you? Where's your girlfriend?"
"She... has something to do too. Never mind that, let's go! It's on me."
"Okay," A Hui agreed.
In truth, Zhangwu had a good impression of A Hui; who wouldn't like a beautiful girl? As the weather began to warm up, everyone started dressing more lightly. That day, A Hui wore a sleeveless top and a short skirt—simple attire that exuded youthful energy.
Since Zhangwu was treating her, he didn't want to skimp on the choice of restaurant. He took A Hui to a relatively upscale place; upscale for students meant it was nicer than their usual buffet lunches. It was a rare opportunity to dine at a restaurant.
Zhangwu specifically chose a booth on the second floor with high-backed chairs, letting A Hui sit first while he took the seat closer to the aisle. A waitress in a tight short skirt came over to take their order. A Hui felt shy about ordering anything too expensive and opted for a chicken leg meal.
"I'll have the same—two chicken legs," Zhangwu said.
The waitress turned to leave, and Zhangwu couldn't help but glance at her swaying hips as she walked away. Moments later, she returned to set down their utensils before leaving again, and Zhangwu continued to watch her intently.
"Big pervert!" A Hui teased. "Just wait until I tell your girlfriend!"
"Don't mention her," Zhangwu replied.
"You two... had another fight?" A Hui asked. She knew that Zhangwu and his girlfriend were quite close but often argued—a classic case of love-hate.
Zhangwu could only smile wryly. "Forget about her; I have this beautiful lady accompanying me for lunch!"
"Stop it!" A Hui playfully scolded him.
When their meals arrived, A Hui looked at her plate and pouted, "Why is the chicken leg whole and not cut up?"
Zhangwu said, "It's fine, after all, the whole leg is more flavorful."
A Hui had no choice but to eat that way. They chatted while eating, and since they were from the same hometown, there was plenty to talk about, making their conversation quite enjoyable. Zhangwu grabbed a chicken leg and took big bites, and A Hui followed suit, finding it very amusing.
Zhangwu even gnawed the bones clean, savoring the grease on his fingers as he licked them with delight.
A Hui laughed and scolded him, "Don't be so greedy; it's embarrassing!"
Zhangwu replied, "Don't you know? Humans have ten fingers so they can savor their meals ten times. Understand?"
A Hui retorted, "I think you're just talking nonsense! Here, let me give you a taste of mine!" With that, she set down her bone and playfully extended her left hand towards him.
Zhangwu jokingly opened his mouth to take a bite. A Hui didn't expect him to actually do it, and Zhangwu was surprised that she didn't pull her hand back. So, he ended up nibbling on her index finger.
