Grandfather was so frightened by the scene that his face turned pale and ashen. He quickly turned his head and ran desperately forward, not stopping until he had completely escaped the vicinity of the Lotus Pod Leopard Cave, at which point the chilling sound behind him gradually faded away.
He rushed to the stable and recounted everything that had just happened to Li Jinshan in detail.
Upon hearing that Grandfather had looked back, Li Jinshan was genuinely surprised and said, "You little rascal, you really have some guts!"
When Li Jinshan learned that Grandfather had successfully broken the Lotus Pod Leopard Cave, he burst into hearty laughter, startling several mares into a frenzy.
With his wish fulfilled, that night, Grandfather carried Li Jinshan away from the Chen Family.
After the feng shui arrangement of the Chen Family—specifically, the Lotus Pod Leopard Cave—was disrupted, it took less than half a month for the Chen Family to face a catastrophic disaster.
First, their newborn grandson suddenly lost his breath without warning. Soon after, all seven of Chen Tinghai's sons unexpectedly died within a month, and more than a dozen grandchildren also met with strange and untimely deaths.
At this point, Chen Tinghai realized something was amiss. He hurried to the stable to find Li Jinshan but discovered that he had already vanished without a trace. All that remained on the wall were a few large characters: "Those who do evil will have their descendants cut off."
Chen Tinghai could only watch helplessly as his descendants left one by one. He could not bear such a heavy blow and eventually became a madman.
Later, it was said that when Chen Tinghai died, he was found lying on his parents' grave, frozen to death.
After recounting this past event, Grandfather raised his cup and drank it all in one go, still immersed in deep memories.
As a descendant of the feng shui lineage, Li Chengfeng believed every word Grandfather said but pretended to be skeptical. He joked, "Grandpa, you really tell a good story! Can you make up another one?"
"Haha, this is no story. Go pull out that box from under my bed; there's a small box inside. Open it up and you'll see whether what I said is true or false."
Li Chengfeng followed his instructions and dragged the box out from under the bed. Inside he found an exquisitely designed small box. The moment he opened it, he stood frozen in place, dumbfounded.
Inside the box lay a golden Lotus Pod with seven small holes; however, the lotus seeds were nowhere to be found. Attached beneath it was a lotus root.
Staring at the Lotus Pod in the box, Li Chengfeng exclaimed in astonishment, "Grandpa, this... this is the Lotus Pod you pulled from the Lotus Pod Leopard Cave!"
"That's right. This Lotus Pod is called Seven-Child Lotus. It is formed from the essence of earth's spiritual energy and absorbs the moon's essence. It is an extremely rare treasure of heaven and earth that occurs once in a millennium; there may only be this one in existence."
Holding the Lotus Pod in his hands, Li Chengfeng felt an overwhelming excitement that was hard to contain, as if waves were crashing within him.
Nature has indeed left us with many mysterious existences, and there are countless unknown puzzles in this world that humanity has yet to unravel.
Some people, having grasped only a bit of modern science and technology, easily dismiss ancient cultural traditions, which is truly a great loss for humanity.
At this moment, Li Chengfeng silently made a decision in his heart: even if he would suffer divine retribution like his grandfather, he would reopen the long-abandoned Suiyuan Hall.
When his grandfather learned of Li Chengfeng's thoughts, he did not respond immediately. Instead, he quietly raised his wine cup and drank it all in one go. He then picked up a piece of pig's head meat and slowly chewed it. After a long silence, he finally spoke, "Child, once you embark on this path, you are destined to be accompanied by loneliness, and you will have no connection to wealth, power, or fate."
"Are you afraid, Grandpa? I'm not afraid!" Li Chengfeng replied decisively without a second thought.
The loneliness and disconnection from wealth and fate that his grandfather spoke of were the punishments from heaven for those who pry into the secrets of the universe, commonly known as the "Five Deficiencies and Three Shortcomings," starting with the "Five Deficiencies" followed by the "Three Shortcomings."
His grandfather sighed deeply as he recalled the moment he found Li Chengfeng by the roadside. Perhaps this was fate, destined for him to walk this path filled with mystery and the unknown.
"Alright then, since that's the case, I will let you pay homage to your master, open your spiritual eye for you, and pass on the Imperial Talisman to formally accept you as my disciple."
As he spoke, his grandfather took out a jade tablet from his clothing and handed it to Li Chengfeng.
The jade tablet was small, about the size of a matchbox, inscribed with the words "Imperial Talisman." The back was engraved with a vividly lifelike dragon.
Under his grandfather's guidance, Li Chengfeng respectfully knelt three times and knocked his head nine times in homage to Grandmaster of Qimen Guo Pu. He then washed his eyes with heavenly water and purified himself with earth soil before receiving the Sanhe Compass.
Once all the initiation procedures were completed, his grandfather's expression turned serious as he earnestly said, "Xiaofang, from today onward, you are the 108th generation heir of the Qimen sect. With heavenly water to open your eyes, you can observe the changes of the sun, moon, and stars; with earth soil to purify yourself, you can seek out the dragon veins of earthly energy. Remember to do good deeds and accumulate merit to avoid divine retribution; never use your skills to harm others or take advantage of them."
"Grandson will heed Grandpa's teachings," Li Chengfeng replied excitedly. From this day forward, he would be a true Qimen The First Feng Shui Master, shouldering the responsibilities of inheritance and protection.
His grandfather rummaged through the room for a while before finally finding a bag under his pillow. He dumped its contents onto the table, revealing several sets of keys along with nine Turtle Shells and a string of Ancient Coins.
His grandfather handed him a set of keys and said, "These are the keys to Suiyuan Hall; they now belong to you."
Li Chengfeng took the keys but his gaze fell on the Turtle Shells and Ancient Coins. With a puzzled expression, he asked his grandfather, "What are those?"
"I'm not sure either. These Turtle Shells and this string of Ancient Coins were passed down to me by your Grand Master. He instructed me to find a way to decipher the inscriptions on them."
It was truly difficult to decipher these characters; even ghosts would struggle to recognize them.
After observing for a moment, Li Chengfeng carefully repacked the Turtle Shell and Ancient Coins, filled with curiosity about what secrets the inscriptions might hold. He wondered if he would ever unravel their mysteries in his lifetime.
The next morning, Li Chengfeng opened the door and stepped into Suiyuan Hall.
The interior was quite simple, with white walls that lacked excessive decoration, save for a portrait of Grandmaster Guo Pu hanging on the wall, beneath which sat an offering table.
Unbeknownst to him, as he entered Suiyuan Hall, the Grandmaster's portrait seemed to flicker slightly, its eyes fixated on him.
Suiyuan Hall was not large, measuring about thirty to forty square meters. It contained a resting bedroom, with a Rosewood Desk and an Armchair against the left wall.
On the right side upon entering was a tea table carved from tree roots and a mahogany sofa. Li Chengfeng bent down slowly and spotted several copper coins beneath the tea table.
He recalled his grandfather mentioning that the feng shui layout of Suiyuan Hall was called "Welcoming Guests at the Door," a common arrangement believed to attract wealth and patrons.
In various establishments like restaurants, clubs, bathhouses, and hotels, it was common to see sofas and tea tables placed on the right side or in the lobby, often with copper coins resting underneath. To ordinary people, this merely served as a resting area for guests.
However, to The First Feng Shui Master, it was a clever arrangement for attracting wealth and customers.
"Welcoming Guests at the Door," Li Chengfeng approached the offering table and lit three sticks of incense for the Grandmaster. Holding the burning incense above his head, he bowed three times in reverence before placing it in the incense burner. He then began to tidy up the space.
