The young couple seemed to be overwhelmed with grief, not noticing that the store was filled with young people. They cried out, "Sir, our son drowned while bathing in the reservoir, and his body hasn't been found yet. What should we do? I want to see him one last time."
"Please, sir, help us find our child. We are willing to pay any amount as long as we can find him."
Li Chengfeng recalled the news he had seen earlier and thought, could it be such a coincidence? The couple's desperate pleas might have driven them to lose their senses; they dropped to their knees. Watching them suffer, Li Chengfeng ultimately felt a pang of compassion and decided to help them recover their child's body. He took them to buy two gourds, several incense sticks, and two roosters.
Li Chengfeng brought along yellow paper and a vermilion brush and followed the young couple to Qingcheng Reservoir.
During their conversation on the way, he learned that the husband was named Wang Jun. Due to the hot weather, their child had gone to the reservoir with some classmates after school. One classmate accidentally slipped into a deep area of water. Wang Jun's son, Wang Xiaoming, tried to rescue him but was unexpectedly pulled underwater by his panicked classmate.
The rescue team had been searching for three or four days without any success.
At the suggestion of the rescue team, Wang Jun and his wife had consulted several Taoist priests and shamans, spending a considerable amount of money but still failing to locate their child's body. Just when they were at a loss for what to do, they happened to pass by Suiyuan Hall and decided to give it a try.
Li Chengfeng felt puzzled about how this couple had found him.
However, he didn’t ask further questions; perhaps it was fate that brought them together.
They soon arrived at Qingcheng Reservoir. The reservoir was vast, with depths reaching nearly 30 meters. The rescue team was still conducting searches; two divers were exploring underwater while a boat dragged fishing nets through the water.
The father of another drowning victim, Yang Donglin, had already cried all his tears dry.
Li Chengfeng chose a relatively flat spot by the reservoir's edge to search for the two children's bodies. At that moment, the rescue team leader, Zhang Junjie, approached. Seeing Li Chengfeng was so young, he asked with dissatisfaction, "What are you doing here?"
Before Li Chengfeng could respond, Wang Jun hurriedly explained, "Captain Zhang, this is Mr. Li from Suiyuan Hall. He’s here to help me find my son."
"Are you crazy? How can someone like him help you find your son?"
Zhang Junjie scoffed, convinced that Wang Jun had been fooled again; what could someone so young possibly do?
Li Chengfeng remained calm and did not wish to argue with Zhang Junjie; after all, he was only trying to help and worried about Wang Jun and his wife being deceived.
With a serious expression, Li Chengfeng said, "Don’t worry; if I can’t find your child, I won’t take a single cent."
Then, under everyone's watchful eyes, Li Chengfeng placed the two roosters by the edge of the reservoir.
Strangely, two roosters sat motionless on the ground as six incense sticks were lit in front of them, accompanied by two piles of Joss Paper being burned. The air was filled with murmured incantations, as if someone were speaking directly to the roosters, who listened quietly.
Zhang Junjie let out a cold snort and mocked, "Playing tricks."
Li Chengfeng ignored him and continued to burn the Joss Paper in front of the roosters.
Once the Joss Paper was consumed, both roosters suddenly crowed and nodded their heads in unison.
Li Chengfeng then placed two gourds beside the roosters. At that moment, something extraordinary happened: as the gourds touched the ground, both roosters slowly closed their eyes, tilted their heads, and instantly lost their breath.
Zhang Junjie and the others were left dumbfounded by the scene before them. How could the two roosters die inexplicably?
"What is going on, Mr. Li?"
Li Chengfeng did not respond but whispered, "Keep your voices down and tell me your children's birth dates."
Wang Jun and Yang Dongming took turns providing their children's birth dates.
Li Chengfeng dipped his brush in cinnabar and wrote their children's birth dates on yellow paper, then burned it in front of each gourd.
After completing this ritual, Li Chengfeng formed a hand seal and pointed at the two gourds, shouting loudly for them to rise. The gourds, placed by the water's edge, seemed to come alive at his command. They jumped straight into the water, drifting against the waves toward the depths of the reservoir.
Everyone present was left speechless in astonishment.
Wang Jun wiped the cold sweat from his forehead, thinking to himself: It can't be real; these gourds are actually floating upstream. This defies all scientific logic and is utterly baffling.
As everyone watched intently, the two gourds floated into the reservoir amidst rippling waves.
Before long, they came to a stop among the waves, remaining perfectly still on the water's surface despite the wind and waves that buffeted them.
Seeing this, Wang Jun exclaimed excitedly, "Mr. Li, what's happening? Why aren't the gourds moving? Are our children down there?"
Li Chengfeng nodded solemnly at Wang Jun and Yang Dongming. "I need you all to step back. Your children won't come out while you're standing here; they don't want to see you sad or for you to witness what they look like now."
Wang Jun and Yang Dongming exchanged helpless glances. They understood that despite his youth, Li Chengfeng possessed genuine abilities. With support from relatives and friends, they turned away and left.
Wang Jun and Yang Donglin had just walked a short distance when the two gourds that had been floating on the water suddenly vanished, beginning to sink slowly.
Zhang Junjie could hardly believe his eyes.
Gourds had significant buoyancy; how could they sink to the bottom without any external force?
A diver quickly dove down to see where the gourds had gone. Two divers, freshly equipped with flashlights and cameras, jumped back into the water, descending towards the depths following the sinking gourds.
The gourds sank at a slow pace, and soon the two divers found them. They filmed the submerged gourds with their equipment.
About ten minutes later, the two gourds finally settled on the black mud at the bottom of the water.
However, the divers did not find the bodies of the two children.
Seeing this, Zhang Junjie raised his phone in front of Li Chengfeng, asking in confusion, "Where are those two kids?"
"Don't worry, keep watching," Li Chengfeng replied without even glancing at the phone. His gaze was calm as he looked at the rippling surface of the water, where he noticed a greenish glow beneath, suggesting something unusual lurking below.
Zhang Junjie refocused on his phone screen, and when he saw what was displayed, he gasped in shock, dropping his phone to the ground.
He had just witnessed a child's head breaking through the mud, slowly emerging.
