On the Stone Platform, aside from Yelai's corpse gradually losing its warmth over time, there was no other change.
"Cthulhu! Come out!"
Luo Zhenxue stared at Yelai's lifeless body, filled with despair and sorrow. "I sacrificed my boyfriend, the person I love most. Please, please bring him back to life!" Her voice echoed with desperation.
Unfortunately, there was not a single response. It seemed that the rumors about sacrificing offerings to Cthulhu to fulfill wishes were false.
After waiting for more than half a day, she watched as Yelai's body began to decay in this peculiar environment, and soon after, the captain of the Safe Zone and others came to persuade her. Tears streamed down Luo Zhenxue's face like pearls as she cried out in anguish.
She screamed and wept uncontrollably, clutching Yelai's corpse tightly until she finally fainted from grief.
In the end, her Sister, who was also her Vice Captain, carried her away, leaving Yelai's body unresponsive.
Not long after everyone had left, Cthulhu Town fell silent once more but soon began to change. Mysterious fog surged from all directions, enveloping the entire town.
In an instant, every house and room in Cthulhu Town trembled; they curled up as if sensing something that filled them with unease, fear, and dread.
The fog thickened, gradually shrouding Cthulhu Town. Even the Stone Platform became engulfed in mist, but just as it enveloped the platform, the spread of the fog abruptly halted.
A low hum echoed through the mist, as if something was writhing or stepping forward.
Listening closely, one could hear not only these sounds but also an ancient whisper, a language not belonging to any known species, like an incantation, as if demons were murmuring, swirling around Cthulhu Town.
In the next moment, a sharp sound pierced the air.
Without warning, a massive tentacle, resembling that of an Octopus, burst forth from the fog, covered in a strange viscous slime. It swiftly coiled around Yelai's dismembered body, preparing to drag it into the mist.
Just as it made contact with the severed remains of Yelai, an eerie scene unfolded.
The Octopus tentacle seemed to touch not a corpse but a spiked object; it recoiled in pain as if stung, shaking violently before instinctively pulling back slightly.
Then came the ancient and obscure whispers that echoed through the fog, tinged with surprise and curiosity.
The bizarre spectacle continued. The Octopus tentacle did not retreat entirely; it reached out once more. This time, however, it did not attempt to grasp Yelai's dismembered body. Instead, it secreted an incredibly thick slime that clung like that of an Octopus or a toad.
The slime dripped steadily onto Yelai's remains.
Then, an astonishing and surreal event began to unfold. The dismembered body of Yelai stirred; its limbs moved closer together. Under the influence of the slime, they pulled toward each other and began to heal.
Time flowed slowly onward.
The dismembered body had transformed into a complete corpse.
Strangely, the events did not stop there. The lifeless body of Yelai, amidst the whispers emanating from the swirling mist, erupted with light from its chest, revealing an ancient key.
The key was white.
It was so pure that it bore no trace of color, untouched by a speck of dust. It appeared to be quite impressive. However, anyone familiar with the Sequence Key would only scoff at it; this was the White Key, commonly referred to as the "useless key."
The Sequence Key was divided into two types: one was white, and the other bore a red hue. The redder the key, the greater the individual's Sequence potential; conversely, a pure white key indicated zero potential. Yelai was a useless key with zero Sequence potential.
However, this situation was somewhat unusual for a typical useless key. The pure white key began to resemble clear lake water that had been splashed with ink, gradually turning black as it became completely covered in darkness.
Before long, the White Sequence Key transformed into what was now recognized as the Black Sequence Key. As the key turned black, the lifeless body of Yelai began to rise and fall at the chest, and in an instant, its tightly shut eyes flew open wide.
