Moments later, she rubbed her eyes and said, "You majored in psychology, not law, right?"
Shen Du was taken aback for a moment before breaking into a smile. It seemed everything was fine now. "Well then, let's go. Congratulations on becoming a little rich lady soon."
These two apartments had been purchased quite some time ago, and since they were paid for in full initially, the paperwork went exceptionally smoothly. After Yao Nian signed a few documents and pressed her fingerprints, she was done.
When she came out with the receipt, Shen Du was at the entrance of the housing authority, talking on the phone. He gestured for her to get into the car and wait.
The sun was blazing outside. As Yao Nian walked past Shen Du, she thought she heard him mention that everything was settled.
The air conditioning in the car had already been turned on, but as Yao Nian sat inside and watched his figure, an unsettling feeling suddenly surged within her. Once all these matters were resolved, would her interactions with Shen Du come to an end?
Not far away, the man hung up the phone and walked slowly toward the car. As his figure drew nearer, Yao Nian clenched her fist tightly, her nails digging into her palm.
Just as Shen Du opened the car door, Yao Nian made up her mind and spoke up, "Uncle Shen, do you have time tomorrow?"
"Hmm?" Shen Du pondered for a moment. "There's nothing else going on; I just need to draft a new agreement."
Yao Nian cautiously observed his expression. "Could you spare a little time to attend our school's graduation ceremony?"
"Graduation ceremony?" Shen Du repeated.
She quickly raised her phone to show him the notification from their group chat. "The teacher said parents must attend. You know my dad..."
"Parents?"
The car was very quiet. Despite the air conditioning being strong, Yao Nian felt sweat pooling in her palms.
Shen Du lowered his gaze and smiled. "Send me the time and address."
That evening, Yao Nian surprisingly dragged Xu Jiayi to the mall to buy clothes.
"I really think you're not well," Xu Jiayi complained. "We could have just bought them together that day; why do you have to make another trip?"
Yao Nian's expression was quite unnatural. After all, she had to speak on stage. "I thought about it and realized I need to pay a bit more attention to my public image."
Xu Jiayi rolled her eyes dramatically.
The graduation ceremony at Huaibei International High School is quite different from that of an ordinary high school. There are no strict dress codes; in fact, students are encouraged to be innovative and express themselves. As a result, each year's graduation ceremony resembles a small fashion show.
They entered a boutique that featured a collection from niche designers. At first glance, Xu Jiayi immediately spotted a light pink satin off-shoulder dress worn by a model and urged Yao Nian to try it on quickly.
Yao Nian picked up the dress and held it against herself, frowning. "Isn't it too short?"
"Not at all," Xu Jiayi replied, exasperated. "Is this really short? Haven't you heard about our country's reform and opening up?"
Yao Nian silently took the dress into the fitting room. When she emerged again, all three sales assistants in the store rushed over.
"It's stunning!" one of the salesgirls exclaimed, shocked as she pulled out her phone. "Can I take a picture of you?"
Yao Nian's skin was naturally flawless, and the light pink hue accentuated her youthful charm. The satin material hugged her curves perfectly, and beneath the slightly flared hem was a pair of long, slender legs.
Xu Jiayi could hardly imagine the commotion that would ensue if Yao Nian wore this outfit to the graduation party.
Crossing her arms, she let out a soft click of her tongue. "My taste is simply impeccable."
Yao Nian tugged at the hem of the dress. "Could it be that it's just flattering because I have a good figure?"
"Darn it, I can't even argue with that," Xu Jiayi said as she playfully slapped Yao Nian's hand. "Stop pulling at it! It doesn't reveal that much!"
