The two of them rolled on the ground together. Lin Mo and Fang Yiran had just arrived and were taken aback by the scene before them. They were only about a meter away from the railing of the rooftop.
Lin Mo rushed forward, grabbing Li Rufen's leg and pulling her back, shouting, "Are you out of your mind? Is it really worth it to jump off a building over something so trivial? If you’re short on money, go earn some! If you're really in trouble, just ask for help! What kind of self-respect is worth risking your life like this?"
At that moment, the instructor who had received the call hurriedly made her way to the rooftop. Fang Yiran, out of breath, quickly explained what had happened.
Li Rufen sat on the ground with a blank expression, as if her soul had been sucked out. She didn’t say a word even when the instructor took her away.
Watching their departing figures, Yao Nian suddenly felt a wave of dizziness wash over her. Just as she was about to step forward, her legs gave way, and her left foot twisted awkwardly.
Lin Mo was quick to support her. "Are you okay?" she asked, looking her up and down.
Yao Nian gasped in pain.
Lin Mo shone her flashlight on Yao Nian's foot and saw that her ankle was swollen with a large bump and bruises that were turning purple.
"How did it get this bad?" Lin Mo frowned. "We should go to the school clinic."
Yao Nian was still dazed, unable to shake off the recent scare. She felt a lingering dread; if she hadn't caught Li Rufen, she didn't dare to think about what might have happened.
Fang Yiran helped Yao Nian carefully descend the stairs, repeatedly exclaiming, "That was so terrifying! How could she be so extreme? It’s just too scary!"
Lin Mo sighed deeply. "You’re like a broken record. Don’t you have any other words?"
"Did I say something too harsh earlier?" Yao Nian suddenly asked.
Lin Mo hesitated for a moment before quickly replying, "Don’t overthink it! Thankfully, you reacted quickly; otherwise, we’d all be left with psychological scars for life."
When they reached the clinic, the school doctor examined Yao Nian's ankle. "This looks like an excessive inversion injury. It’s quite swollen; I recommend going to the hospital for an X-ray to check for fractures or cracks."
"Right," Fang Yiran said as she supported Yao Nian’s shoulder. "We’ll go with you to the hospital."
"It’s too late now," Yao Nian said to the doctor. "Can you give me some painkillers or something?"
The doctor handed her a prescription. "I’ll get you some ice packs first. Apply them and monitor your ankle; if it remains swollen, you need to go to the hospital as soon as possible."
"Thank you," Yao Nian replied as she took the prescription.
Lin Mo and Fang Yiran helped her into a temporary resting room in the clinic. The doctor brought ice packs and placed them on her ankle, quickly alleviating much of the throbbing pain.
After thinking for a moment, Yao Nian decided to call the instructor.
As soon as the call ended, Lin Mo immediately asked, "What did the instructor say?"
Yao Nian, feeling her emotions finally settle, looked at the two of them and replied, "The counseling center is already involved, and they have notified her parents to come over."
Fang Yilian let out a sigh.
The three of them fell into silence, each lost in their own thoughts.
