After the Lantern Festival, Yao Nian was about to start school soon. Shen Du had been staying for nearly half a month, and the thought of not being able to see him every day made her feel inexplicably downcast as she squatted in front of her open suitcase, putting things inside.
Shen Du half-squatted beside her and zipped up the suitcase. "I'll come pick you up after class on Friday."
"Huh?" Yao Nian didn't quite understand his meaning.
"If you have nothing to do over the weekend, come back and stay."
She sulked, "I enrolled in driving school. At least for this month, I’ll be practicing driving every weekend."
Shen Du asked, "Why are you in such a hurry?"
"If I learn to drive, won't it make things easier for you? For example, I could pick you up after work?"
She always had a way of saying things that melted his heart unexpectedly. Shen Du smiled and ruffled her hair, "Then I'll wait for the little girl to pick me up after work."
Once they entered Huada University, many classmates were returning to school early. Shen Du took out his suitcase from the trunk and went upstairs with Yao Nian.
When they arrived at the dormitory, Lin Mo happened to walk out of the bathroom carrying a bucket of water. Her keen eyes immediately locked onto the hands they were holding.
Yao Nian was surprised, "You’re here so early?"
Shen Du smiled at her, as a greeting.
Lin Mo's expression turned teasingly ambiguous as she slowly joked, "I remember someone saying that wise people don’t fall in love; are you becoming a king of solitude?"
Yao Nian quickly shot her a look to interrupt.
Shen Du originally wanted to help her organize her things, but seeing that her roommate had arrived, he felt it was inconvenient to stay. "Then I won’t go in."
Yao Nian took the suitcase from him. "Are you heading back to the law firm now?"
"Yeah. If you need anything, just let me know and I’ll bring it over."
After Shen Du left, Lin Mo crossed her arms and raised an eyebrow at Yao Nian. "So, has youthful pain turned into being the pampered wife of a CEO?"
Yao Nian laughed and folded her arms. "He doesn’t look like a CEO at all!"
In just one winter break, you all have made such rapid progress.
Lin Mo tossed the rag into the bucket and looked up at the sky, lamenting, "Now I'm the only single dog left in our dormitory. What is the world coming to?"
"Isn't Senior Zhang Ming always pursuing you? Don't you feel anything at all?"
Zhang Ming was a senior in his second year at the law school. Yao Nian always thought he had a serious masochistic tendency. Lin Mo had rejected him with harsh words countless times, yet he still wore a look of determination as if to say, "No matter how many times you hurt me, I will still treat you like my first love."
Him? Lin Mo rolled her eyes dramatically. "He's the kind of guy who grows on you, but clearly, I don't have the patience for that."
Suddenly, the door swung open, and two suitcases slid into the room.
Fang Yihui entered the dormitory, struggling to balance several precariously stacked delivery boxes in her arms while panting heavily. "Wow, you all are here!"
Yao Nian took the delivery boxes from her arms and placed them on the table. "Why didn’t you call us to help you carry them?"
"I thought you all wouldn’t arrive this early."
Fang Yi's already chubby face looked even rounder after a year of growth.
Lin Mo clicked her tongue. "What’s your boyfriend doing here? Yao Nian’s boyfriend personally delivered her stuff and settled everything."
"Oh, Cheng Xu... he just..."
Fang Yi suddenly turned to Yao Nian with wide eyes. "You—you—you’re in a relationship? Who is it? Do we know him?"
Lin Mo was almost moved to tears by her cluelessness. "Who else could it be!"
Fang Yi quickly connected the dots. "Is it that handsome uncle who took you to the hospital when you sprained your ankle last time?"
Hearing the word "uncle," Yao Nian couldn’t help but chuckle.
Qiao Shuzhen brought back quite a few souvenirs from abroad and had given Lin Mo and Fang Yi some to choose from.
"Wow, I want that biggest one!" Fang Yi exclaimed, pointing at a blue-and-white box inside one of the suitcases.
Inside was a bunny rabbit with star-shaped ears. She unwrapped it and adored it so much that she declared she would hug it every night while sleeping.
"Here, this is for you." Yao Nian handed Lin Mo a golden rectangular gift box that exuded a festive Christmas vibe.
