Shen Du enlarged the photo for her to see. "Look, most people usually like to lean against their pillows while looking at their phones. The pillow on the bedside clearly shows signs of someone lying down to sleep, and both pillows have traces of use, indicating different habits."
"You mean he doesn't live alone?" she asked.
He continued, "Moreover, based on the direction of the shot, the charging cable is plugged in on the other end. If he lived alone, why wouldn't he charge his phone while lying in bed? And one more thing: when a normal person sleeps, the wrinkles on the bed sheet go down because the headboard blocks it; it wouldn't be pushed up."
Yao Nian felt a chill run down her spine after hearing this.
Shen Du didn't say anything further. She carefully examined the photo again. If the wrinkles were pushed up, what kind of movement would cause that?
"Scumbag!" Yao Nian slammed her hand on the coffee table. "I need to tell Yi Ran immediately."
"Wait," Shen Du said, worried that she was too anxious. "These are just speculations; there’s no substantial evidence. Even if you confront him, he won't admit anything."
Yao Nian felt anger rising within her. "So we just let him continue deceiving Yi Ran?"
Shen Du patiently analyzed for her: "He would rather take a poor-quality photo than clean up his place for a better shot. The only possibility is that the girl he's with doesn’t know he has a girlfriend. In such cases, it's easy for flaws to show; it's best if your roommate discovers it herself."
Yao Nian furrowed her brows, deep in thought.
"Stop overthinking," Shen Du said, gently smoothing her furrowed brow. "You can subtly remind her not to get too involved; otherwise, she might end up hurt."
Fang Yi Ran was a simple-minded girl. Yao Nian couldn't just stand by and watch her get deceived by this scumbag; she needed to think carefully about how to warn her.
It was almost eleven o'clock. Shen Du turned to her and asked, "Going to sleep?"
Yao Nian glanced at the light on his side. "Aren't you going back to your law firm?"
"No, I'm here to keep you company."
"Then..." She rolled her eyes and slowly sat on his lap, wrapping her arms around his neck. "Can I sleep with you tonight?"
"No." Shen Du rejected her firmly without hesitation.
"Why not?" Yao Nian glared at him, pouting.
Shen Du sighed helplessly, his hand hovering at her waist. "Have I ever told you that I'm a normal man?"
After so many days apart, Yao Nian wanted to spend more time with him and longed for that night when he held her close as she slept.
She gently swayed back and forth, dragging out her words. "I promise I won't move around too much; is that okay?"
The girl looked at him with slightly narrowed eyes, her gaze shimmering with moisture and light. Unbeknownst to her, in Shen Du's eyes, she resembled an enchanting little temptress at that moment.
Suddenly lifted off the ground, Yao Nian had no time to react before being swept up by the man. Shen Du strode directly toward the bedroom, slamming the door shut behind them. Accompanied by heavy breaths, he leaned over the bed, pressing down on her.
It was time to teach the young girl a lesson.
Yao Nian fell onto the bed, and immediately, a storm of kisses descended upon her. His breath mingled with hers as it trailed from her lips to her jawline, then buried itself in the crook of her neck. The back of her nightgown was lifted, and his scorching hands roamed back and forth at her waist.
Her neck was kissed until she could hardly bear it; a shiver ran through her body, and an involuntary gasp escaped her throat. The sound embarrassed her to no end, yet it shattered Shen Du's last shred of rationality. He seized her hand and guided it beneath the cashmere blanket, reaching for the silk of his pajama pants.
At that moment of contact, Yao Nian instinctively tried to pull away, but he held her firmly, forcefully tugging down the waistband.
The air around them was thick with heat and ambiguity.
You were the one who beckoned me first.
After washing her hands, Yao Nian slowly emerged from the bathroom, rubbing her wrist.
