Shen Du was putting on a new bed sheet. As soon as their eyes met, she immediately looked away, her face flushed with embarrassment.
It wasn't until she heard the sound of water running in the bathroom that her awkward feelings began to fade little by little.
Yao Nian seemed to have lost her mind, grabbing the plush toy from the bedside and burying her entire face in it. The real warmth of the toy in her hands, along with the rhythm he had led her into, lingered in her mind. In that final moment, his breath quickening by her ear made her feel for the first time just how wild he could be beneath his refined exterior.
The sound of water in the bathroom suddenly stopped, and Shen Du called out to her.
"Huh?" Yao Nian immediately lifted her head.
"Bring me a pair of underwear."
"Oh." She opened the drawer and randomly pulled out a pair without even looking at the style.
The bathroom door was slightly ajar, leaving a small gap. Yao Nian intended to pass it through the opening, but just as her hand touched the doorknob, the door was yanked open.
Her gaze was drawn in like a magnet.
The man stood there with only a white towel wrapped around his waist, his bare shoulders glistening with droplets of water that trickled down towards his defined abs. His waist was narrow, not an ounce of excess flesh in sight.
Shen Du raised an eyebrow playfully, hinting, "Want to come in and take a look?"
"Who would want to?" Yao Nian hurriedly shoved the underwear into his hands and quickly turned to leave.
She rubbed her burning cheeks vigorously.
This is bad.
It felt like he had seduced her.
When Shen Du finished his shower and came out, he saw a small lump under the covers on the bed. The girl was curled up inside, leaving no gap at all.
Knowing she was shy, he walked over and tugged at the blanket, only to find she had clutched it tightly.
Shen Du chuckled and asked, "Aren't you afraid of suffocating?"
Yao Nian kept her eyes closed and remained silent.
He didn’t return to the guest room but instead climbed into bed beside her. He turned off the bedside lamp and wrapped his arm around her, pulling her into his embrace.
In the light filtering through the gauzy window, the girl's eyelashes fluttered slightly; it was clear she was pretending to be asleep.
Shen Du chuckled softly, rubbing his chin against her hair a few times before kissing her ear, "Good night."
The next morning, it was Yao Nian who woke up first.
To be precise, she was awakened by the heat. Shen Du had been holding her all night, and in the middle of the night, she felt a bit warm. She tried to wriggle free slightly, but he always managed to pull her back into his embrace with precision, as if she were his cherished toy.
At that moment, the man lay with his eyes closed, breathing steadily. Yao Nian watched him for a while, unable to help but marvel at how someone could look so good even in sleep.
She carefully lifted the blanket and was just about to get up when her waist was suddenly caught by a firm grip. His voice, still laced with sleepiness, asked, "Where are you going?"
Shen Du usually worked intensely and often stayed up late; it was rare for him to get a chance to sleep in like this. Yao Nian didn’t want to wake him.
"Sleep a little longer," she said, nuzzling his face. "I’m going to buy breakfast."
"Don’t go; let me hold you a little longer."
Yao Nian mumbled, "You’ve held me all night."
The man buried his face in her neck and laughed softly. "Isn’t that just not enough?"
