Yao Nian paused for a moment, glancing around the sofa with a somewhat distracted expression. "Hey? Where's my phone?"
Lin Mo handed her own phone over. "He’s definitely looking for you. You should answer."
Yao Nian hurriedly picked up the call. "Hello?"
"Is this Lin Mo? Has Yao Nian finished talking to you?" Shen Du immediately recognized her voice.
"Why haven’t you been answering your phone?"
Yao Nian covered the receiver and stepped outside. "What? Can you speak louder?"
Shen Du heard the noise in the background and fell silent for a moment before changing the subject. "Where are you?"
She reached the entrance of the bar, feeling a gust of wind that made her steps a bit unsteady. "I’m at the clear bar next to the school."
Shen Du's tone turned cold. "Aren't you supposed to be in class?"
"I am in class."
"What time is it? Can you get back to your dorm?"
Yao Nian glanced at her phone screen and gasped, her mind still hazy. "I... I lost track of time again. I had too much to drink last night."
On the other end, she heard the sound of a car starting up as the man fastened his seatbelt.
"What's your address?"
Yao Nian looked up at the street sign and relayed the bar's address to him, only then realizing, "Wait, are you coming over?"
"Yeah," he replied, glancing at the navigation on his phone. "I’ll be there in twenty minutes."
After hanging up, Yao Nian entered the bar. Xiao Chi was no longer on stage; instead, a girl in a floral dress was singing.
She returned Lin Mo's phone and then shook Fang Yiran's arm, trying to wake her up.
Lin Mo stood up. "Let’s go; otherwise, I think she might sleep here all night."
Yao Nian felt a bit dizzy and propped her head on her hand. "Just wait a little longer; Uncle Shen said he’s coming."
Hearing that title, Lin Mo looked at her in disbelief. "Have you had too much to drink as well?"
Less than twenty minutes later, the bar door swung open, and a man searched through the dim lighting.
He quickly locked his gaze onto their table and walked toward them.
Yao Nian smiled sweetly upon seeing the visitor. "You're here!"
Shen Du glanced at the beer bottles scattered on the table and quickly frowned. "Have you been drinking?"
"Just two bottles," Yao Nian held up two fingers.
Her cheeks were flushed, and her eyes had a distant look, clearly indicating she had drunk too much. The only sober one, Lin Mo, quietly added, "And one shot of tequila. The effects are probably kicking in now."
Shen Du sighed and helped Yao Nian lean against him.
"Lin Mo, can you call Fang Yiran?"
Fang Yiran opened her eyes groggily, still half-asleep and confused about the situation when Lin Mo suddenly lifted her up.
Not far away at the bar, a man squinted slightly, his fingertips stained crimson. He slowly exhaled a puff of smoke, humming softly, "Looks like someone has a partner now."
Shen Du parked the car at the entrance with the hazard lights on. As soon as Yao Nian stepped out of the bar, she felt a wave of nausea wash over her.
"Wait, I think I might throw up."
He pulled out his car keys to unlock the door and told Lin Mo, "You two get in the car first."
Then he took off his jacket and placed it on the steps to help Yao Nian sit down. "If you need to throw up, just do it."
Yao Nian swallowed back the sourness in her throat, her eyes slightly dazed as she looked at him. "Uncle Shen, are you angry?"
Shen Du couldn't help but chuckle. "What did you call me?"
It was as if she hadn’t heard him; she continued talking to herself. "Please don’t be angry; getting angry makes you age faster."
The man smirked slightly. "Compared to you, I do seem quite old."
Yao Nian spoke in a fragmented manner, lacking coherence. "If one day you don’t like me anymore, you must tell me clearly. You can't do it like Cheng Xu did to Yiran."
There was a moment of silence in the atmosphere.
"And what about you?" Shen Du tilted his head to ask her.
