"Do you know each other?" Zhao Xinqing casually tugged at Qin Qixu's sleeve, her fingers lightly pulling at the fabric. "Why have I never heard you mention this before?" 0

"Inspector Qin promised me not to speak of that matter, didn't he?" Liu Yun replied, gracefully sitting down in a nearby rosewood chair. She then turned to instruct a young maid behind her, " Feng'er, prepare some tea!" 0

"Yes!" The young maid, who appeared delicate and pretty, went to brew the tea. As she passed by Zhao Xinqing, Zhao noticed that the girl was secretly glancing at Qin Qixu. A hint of displeasure flashed in her eyes as she furrowed her brow slightly. 0

Zhao Xinqing's already awkward feelings grew more sour. Indeed, the women in this place of pleasure were all more frivolous than the last. 0

Qin Qixu seemed oblivious to Zhao Xinqing's discomfort as he suggested, "Shall we go inside and take a look at Boss Pei?" 0

Zhao Xinqing didn't respond but instead pulled Shui Lingyun, who was watching the scene unfold with interest, and abruptly lifted the curtain, which arched gracefully in the air. 0

Upon entering the inner chamber, they discovered that the man was surprisingly young and quite handsome. However, a Golden Dangling Hair Ornament was stabbed into the back of his neck, indicating that the assailant had struck with great force; the gold hairpin was nearly piercing through his throat. 0

Yet his expression was remarkably serene, as if he felt no pain from the sharp object penetrating his flesh. 0

As Shui Lingyun stepped into the room, she wrinkled her nose and sniffed several times, her nostrils flaring slightly. "Has this place been infused with love roots?" 0

"Young master has keen insight!" Liu Yun picked up an exquisite concubine fan, her fingers unconsciously fiddling with Tassel as she spoke lightly. "In this place of pleasure, I must resort to some extraordinary means to protect myself. It's purely for self-preservation; I would never use it to harm others." 0

"What are love roots?" Zhao Xinqing frowned and quietly asked Shui Lingyun. 0

"They are the roots of the mandrake; when burned, they cause people to faint!" Shui Lingyun explained softly in her ear, her lips almost brushing against it. 0

"It’s no wonder he didn’t struggle at all when he was stabbed; clearly, he was knocked out first. Usually, most female murderers use such methods to compensate for the physical disparity with men before committing the act," Zhao Xinqing remarked, casting a pointed glance at Liu Yun, her eyes filled with a hint of suspicion. 0

Qin Qixu, however, simply walked over to the incense burner and slowly circled it, observing carefully. He then sat down at the qin table and turned to look at the small window behind it. "The window is open, Ms. Liu Yun is sitting behind the qin table, and the wind is blowing from behind her. Thus, the scent of the incense wafted toward Boss Pei across the room. That’s why he was quickly incapacitated while you remained unharmed." 0

"With Inspector Qin here, I believe this case will soon reveal its truth!" Liu Yun smiled and nodded at Qin Qixu, her admiration for him evident in her eyes, filled with anticipation. 0

"Everyone, please enjoy some tea!" The maid named Feng'er brought in tea and served it to Zhao Xinqing and Shui Lingyun. 0

However, as she approached Qin Qixu, she stumbled slightly and nearly fell. 0

Qin Qixu quickly steadied her, his hands firmly grasping her arms. The maid was startled and paled as she apologized profusely. 0

"My maid has always been a bit clumsy; I apologize for the trouble!" Liu Yun said as she stood up and personally took a cup of tea from the tray to hand it to Qin Qixu with gentle movements. 0

"Thank you!" Qin Qixu nodded as he accepted the teacup. 0

Zhao Xinqing's eyes widened in surprise as she opened her mouth to say something but ultimately feigned indifference, nudging Shui Lingyun with her elbow. "Didn’t you boast about your deductive skills before we came? Why are you silent now? In your opinion, who in this room is the most suspicious?" 0

"That goes without saying; it must be Ms. Liu Yun!" Shui Lingyun exclaimed dramatically, raising his voice intentionally. "Ah, how wicked of you! Suspecting someone without saying it outright and making me play the villain!" 0

Zhao Xinqing looked at Qin Qixu without comment, but he simply turned his face away, his typically calm gaze focused intently on Liu Yun's face. 0

A fleeting sense of unease crossed Zhao Xinqing's features. Unlike her previous jealous pouting moments with Zhao Yi, this time she distinctly felt a sense of crisis; her fingers unconsciously twisted together. 0
