In front of hundreds of police officers and local citizens pursuing him, the elusive Nie Luyong committed murder once more.
During his escape, he broke into a farmer's house in Kaiyun Town, where only a 31-year-old woman was present. At that moment, she was visibly pregnant.
In a fit of madness, Nie Luyong stabbed her dozens of times, killing her.
He burst into the room with wild eyes, brandishing a knife and frantically stabbing at the woman.
When the police arrived at the scene, they found the pregnant woman disheveled and clearly having been torn at, yet there were no signs of sexual assault.
The only fortunate aspect was that another child of the victim was nearby, crying loudly; Nie Luyong did not harm him.
At this moment, everyone understood that if the suspect was not immediately brought to justice, the tragedy would continue to unfold.
The police organized a large number of personnel, including thousands of villagers and armed police, to conduct a thorough search. Finally, they apprehended Nie Luyong in the mountainous area not far from the scene of the third incident.
During this process, Nie Luyong attempted to commit suicide by stabbing himself twice in the abdomen but failed. He was then urgently sent to the hospital for rescue and managed to escape life-threatening danger.
"How many people have you killed in total? Seven. That old man and that girl, then those four children yesterday, and today it was that woman by the mountain," Nie Luyong said flatly, lying on the hospital bed with vacant eyes.
The police subsequently requested his active cooperation in treatment.
At this point, one question continued to trouble everyone: what was his motive for committing these crimes?
According to Nie Luyong's confession, on January 15th, he saw a beautiful girl named Xiaoli and developed malicious intentions to assault her. However, he was stopped by Village Secretary Luo Xueyun, which led him to harm both individuals.
On January 16th, he discovered Kuang Yanjing's daughter had left the door open while going out alone. Seeing that she was attractive, he felt a surge of evil thoughts and quietly entered the house to wait.
At that time, Kuang Yanjing's younger brother was fast asleep. When the girl returned, Nie Luyong attempted to assault her but faced strong resistance. Not only did he wake her brother, but another man and woman also arrived at the house. Nie Luyong then brutally killed all four of them with a sharp knife before quickly fleeing the scene due to time constraints.
By January 17th, while on the run, Nie Luyong hid in a farmer's home to steal food. However, upon seeing the 31-year-old pregnant mistress of the house, he was struck by evil thoughts again. When she fiercely resisted him, he cruelly murdered her as well.
Once again, he did not achieve his goal.
What was shocking was that after interrogation, Nie Luyong revealed that his actual targets were middle school students.
In July and August of 2015, there were plans for a series of rapes and murders, and he held a clear standard in his mind: regardless of success or resistance from the victim, he would kill them.
"His premeditation was evident; as soon as he arrived at the entrance of the school in Hengshan, he would target middle school students. Upon seeing them, he would kill them," a police officer stated solemnly, his eyes filled with anger.
Describing him as insane was no longer sufficient. Within three days, he committed three crimes, resulting in six deaths and one serious injury. Ultimately, Nie Luyong was sentenced to death, with execution carried out on July 25, 2017.
With that, the case was finally solved.
