Huo Chanyi returned from the meeting, noticing that Mu Liyin looked unwell and seemed hesitant to speak. Before he could say anything to dismiss her, Chun Yuejing took the initiative to leave and closed the door behind her.
Huo Chanyi was about to become a father, and he would surely marry Mu Liyin for the sake of their child... Then she would finally be free!
Chun Yuejing leaned on the table, feeling no joy at all. Had she become so accustomed to this torment?
After a while, Mu Liyin emerged, her eyes red and swollen, clearly having cried. Chun Yuejing, filled with righteous indignation, stormed into the office to confront Huo Chanyi.
"How could you make her cry? Don't you want to take responsibility?"
Huo Chanyi seemed equally displeased. "What nonsense are you talking about?"
" Mu Liyin is pregnant! Don't tell me you plan to be a heartless scoundrel!" Chun Yuejing declared firmly; she despised men who were unfaithful and lacking in integrity.
Huo Chanyi furrowed his brow. "You want me to take responsibility for her?"
"It's not about what I want; it's about what you should do!" Chun Yuejing was furious, her anger boiling over. "If she's pregnant with your child and you try to shirk your responsibilities, then you're no man at all!"
"That is not my child."
"How is that possible?!" Chun Yuejing raised her voice in disbelief. He was actually slandering his own woman just to escape responsibility. "I can't believe you have such a vile character!"
She could no longer stand being in the same room with him; it felt as if the air had turned toxic. Turning to leave, Huo Chanyi blocked her path at the door. "Chun Yuejing, explain to me what kind of person you think I am?!"
"Shameless! Despicable! Irresponsible! You're not a man!" Chun Yuejing shouted angrily. "I don't want to see someone like you anymore! I'm moving out!"
"You..." Huo Chanyi lowered his head in frustration and fiercely kissed her annoying little mouth.
Gasps filled the room as Chun Yuejing quickly pushed him away. With so many witnesses, it would be impossible for her to clear her name now. In her ears rang Huo Chanyi's arrogant declaration: "You will never leave me in this lifetime."
As if truly fearing her departure, Huo Chanyi followed closely behind her like a shadow.
Once home, neither of them was willing to back down, both turning away with disdainful snorts. Yan Gang and others wisely kept their distance from the tension between them.
Chun Yuejing retreated back into her room, and in the middle of the night, she heard a commotion outside, followed by the sound of Huo Chanyi driving away.
She opened the door and peeked out, just in time to see a brother from Yan Gang.
"What happened to him?"
"Miss Mu's manager called. Boss, he..." The young man seemed to realize he had misspoken and quickly added, "Sister-in-law, don’t misunderstand. Boss and Miss Mu..."
"No need to explain!"
She slammed the door shut.
She was nothing to him; why should he explain anything to her?
There was no need for an explanation! He had rushed out in such a hurry; what good would an explanation do?
Chun Yuejing slumped onto her bed, suddenly realizing that she felt like a wronged woman, waiting for Huo Chanyi as he chased after another woman. How had she become so pathetic? It was infuriating!
The next morning, Huo Chanyi still hadn’t returned. Chun Yuejing bit into her bread with frustration. She turned on the television, and the news was flooded with reports about Mu Liyin ’s unexpected pregnancy, with the identity of the child’s father shrouded in mystery.
"What... what is going on?" Chun Yuejing was stunned into silence.
In the news report, it showed Huo Chanyi beside Mu Liyin, helping her evade the media’s relentless pursuit. He had not returned all night.
"Sister-in-law, I’ve already explained that there’s nothing between Boss and Miss Mu. This move of yours is too ruthless!" It was the same young man from last night, but his words made Chun Yuejing’s face turn pale as paper.
"You think I did this?"
The young man fell silent and pulled out a newspaper—it was from Ba Entertainment, where she used to work. The headline boldly displayed the news, and in the byline was a name that stood out—Chun Yuejing.
Chun Yuejing hurriedly defended herself, "I had nothing to do with this!"
"But your name is clearly on it." A deep voice filled with anger came from the doorway.
Huo Chanyi returned with Mu Liyin, and the two of them went to great lengths to avoid the reporters.
After escorting Mu Liyin back to her room to rest, Mu Liyin's emotions were extremely unstable; she clutched Huo Chanyi's hand tightly, refusing to let go.
In this tranquil atmosphere, Chun Yuejing felt like an outsider, rather superfluous. She quietly exited the room, pondering Huo Chanyi's earlier words of doubt—had he begun to suspect her?
Chun Yuejing sat in the living room, feeling restless and anxious.
Once Huo Chanyi had patiently soothed Mu Liyin to sleep, he slowly made his way downstairs and sank into the sofa, weariness etched on his face.
Chun Yuejing felt as though something was lodged in her throat. "It wasn't me," she said.
"Yue Jing, I have found Ye Wei," Huo Chanyi suddenly spoke. Chun Yuejing stared at him in shock, unable to believe what she heard. He sighed heavily before continuing, "I have also purchased the house you previously rented. You can live here for a long time."
What did his words mean?
Chun Yuejing looked at him in disbelief. "Are you trying to drive me away?"
Huo Chanyi remained silent, and Chun Yuejing, filled with anxiety, shouted at him, "I have already made it clear that it wasn't me!"
Yet no matter how many explanations she offered, they seemed to fall on deaf ears for him.
