It had been a long time since Wu Xin had tasted Rao Jie’s desserts. As soon as she took a bite, she was amazed. “Jie Jie, you could definitely open a little dessert shop here in Romantic Country. I feel like you wouldn’t lose out at all.”
Rao Jie sat down, humbly replying, “Actually, it was Li Zhaofeng who reminded me earlier; otherwise, I wouldn’t have been able to make something this good on my own. If I try making something else later, I’m sure it will return to its original state.”
Wu Xin suggested casually, “Then why not come to Romantic Country? There are many professional pastry schools here where you can learn systematically. You could study hard and then open your own shop to make your own desserts. Don’t you love DIY?”
Rao Jie paused, her previously suppressed excitement stirring once again. Yet, she instinctively replied, “How could that be… I’m studying economics; how could I possibly… Making desserts is just a hobby, not a career. I still want to work in a bank in the future.”
“Is that so?” Wu Xin asked with curiosity. “But economics is so boring; it feels meaningless to study.”
Wu Rong, who had been watching Rao Jie, interjected upon hearing Wu Xin’s comment. “Every discipline has its significance. If you haven’t delved deeply into it, it’s natural to feel it lacks meaning. Of course, if you’re not interested in it, you’ll never be able to study it thoroughly.”
Speaking of research, although Wu Rong didn’t particularly favor subjects like economics, he didn’t deny their existence had value. “Besides, if you’re not interested, why waste a year over there? Do you think your life is too leisurely?”
Wu Rong couldn’t stand others treating their lives with indifference; he felt his sister could still use some guidance.
Wu Xin chuckled playfully and said, “Back then, I hadn’t found my direction yet. I didn’t know what I was interested in and just followed my friends.”
She then looked at Rao Jie, recalling how they had been the closest during high school. So when she was indifferent about her future, she chose the same path as Rao Jie.
“However, later on, during one of our dormitory events where we had to put on a show, Wei Qian suggested acting. I was responsible for preparing costumes but wasn’t satisfied with the borrowed ones. So I decided to alter them myself. As I worked on them, I realized that just like my parents, I enjoyed making clothes. That’s when I dropped out.”
Rao Jie was fully aware of the entire process; at that time, Wu Xin hadn’t hesitated at all but pursued whatever she wanted to do. She had no pressure in life; her parents believed in letting her be happy.
So when she discovered what she loved, her mind was filled with excitement as she eagerly set off for a foreign country. Even though she felt reluctant to leave everything behind here, she wanted to chase her dreams.
At that time, only Wu Xin could do such a thing; it was truly enviable.
Now listening to the conversation between Wu Xin and Wu Rong made Rao Jie feel an unexpected wave of insecurity wash over her. She remembered how they had argued about similar topics before.
Deep down, she knew Wu Rong was right and meant well for her; even today his words indicated that his thoughts hadn’t changed.
Yet his perspective always made her uncomfortable and gradually made her realize that his very presence unsettled her.
