"She can't be dying from the snake venom right away, can she?"
Yu Qi was engulfed in fear when she noticed the astonished expressions on the faces of others as they looked at Ruan Fu Xi. It dawned on her that what she had seen earlier was not just her imagination. The King Cobra was behaving quite obediently in front of Ruan Fu Xi!
Yu Qi suddenly shot her gaze towards Ruan Fu Xi, anger flaring within her. "You did this on purpose!"
Ruan Fu Xi looked surprised, seemingly not understanding what she meant. "What do you mean on purpose?"
Yu Qi accused her, "That poisonous snake is yours, isn't it? You deliberately let it bite me!"
"What do you mean on purpose?"
Before Yu Qi could finish her sentence, a deep voice interrupted. The group turned to see a tall and handsome man in a tailored suit, looking displeased as he regarded Yu Qi.
Upon seeing him, Yu Qi's voice faltered, and she quickly adopted a pitiful expression. "Brother Ruan, I was bitten by the cobra! Out of so many people, it only bit me! Yet it behaves so well in front of Xiao Xi, as if she raised it herself. That's why I suspected..."
Ruan Fu Xi immediately recognized the man before her as her older brother, Ruan Huai, the eldest son of the Ruan family. In her memories, he had always been calm and reserved, and he was also the strictest towards her.
Ruan Fu Xi couldn't quite gauge his attitude towards her as his 'fake sister' at that moment, but it didn't affect her performance at all. She furrowed her brows dramatically, putting on an expression of great grievance as she clutched her chest. "How can you accuse me like this? I told you long ago not to take the snake eggs! You refused to listen; how could I possibly make the snake obey me?"
Then she turned to Ruan Huai and called out in a pitiful tone, "Brother..."
Hearing her call him 'Brother' stirred something within Ruan Huai. His sharp gaze fixed on Ruan Fu Xi as if trying to see through whatever scheme she was plotting this time—wondering if she had gotten herself into trouble again like before.
Despite his disappointment in this sister of his, Ruan Huai still stood protectively in front of Ruan Fu Xi, his intent to defend her unmistakable. "Xiao Xi has always been gentle; how could she dare to raise a snake?"
Ruan Fuxi stood behind him with a faint smile. It seemed that although this older brother was strict, he was actually soft-hearted and quite caring towards her.
Yu Qi nearly spat out a mouthful of blood upon hearing this. With Ruan Fuxi's reputation for being spoiled over the years, it was hard to see any hint of weakness in her demeanor. It was just that her face looked pitiful enough to evoke sympathy.
She turned to Fu Sihan and cried out, "Cousin, you must have seen it too! That snake in front of Ruan Fuxi was behaving so obediently."
Yu Qi was the adopted daughter of Fu Sihan's aunt, so it was only natural for him to be her cousin. However, Fu Sihan had little affection for this cousin of his and did not intend to respond to her words. Instead, he addressed the person beside him who was holding a medical kit, saying, "You take care of her first, then send her to the hospital."
Upon hearing this, Yu Qi felt the fear of dying from poisoning overwhelm her other concerns. She immediately stopped arguing with Ruan Fuxi and just wanted to get down the mountain to the hospital as quickly as possible. After all, the king cobra was highly venomous; if she didn't receive treatment and an antivenom soon, she could die within hours.
Yu Qi was taken down the mountain and sent to the hospital. Fu Sihan knew that Ruan Huai had come specifically to find his sister after receiving news about her, so after exchanging pleasantries, he prepared to leave. Although Ruan Fuxi didn't rush over to him like she usually did upon seeing him, he still wanted to leave quickly to avoid any unnecessary commotion.
Even though Ruan Fuxi was a fake sister, judging by Ruan Huai's behavior, it was clear that he cared about this false sibling quite a bit.
Suddenly, someone exclaimed while holding a camera, "Brother Han, we didn't cut off the live feed in time; we recorded footage of the cobra biting!"
As Fu Sihan leaned in closer, he noticed Ruan Huai moving as well and following along. The group watched as the footage showed the two- or three-meter-long king cobra gently rubbing against Ruan Fuxi's shoes, feeling that this scene was somewhat surreal.
Is this really a venomous snake? It looks more like a dog that just happens to resemble a snake.
