Ye Jianguo's bicycle had a net bag hanging from it, containing a large watermelon. This was specially bought for his parents; if they arrived empty-handed, they would surely nag him. 0

They had come over during the evening after work, and when they reached Grandpa Ye's home, the family was all there. Grandpa Ye lived in a communal building, and Uncle Ye and Aunt Ye lived with them to take care of the elderly couple. 0

In the evening, the hallway of the building was lively. Some families were cooking, while others who had finished their meals were washing dishes. Children were running around and playing, occasionally interrupted by the shouts of adults. 0

As Ye Jianguo and his family of three approached, the adults greeted him warmly. 0

"Jianguo, are you here to see your parents?" 0
"Yes, I came back to see my parents. Uncle, have you eaten?" 0
"Little Second, you haven't been back for a while!" 0
"I've been quite busy these days; I finally found time to come back today." 0
"Brother Two, you're back? Come in and sit for a while!" 0
"Not today; I'll come by when I have more time." 0

Everyone greeted Ye Jianguo, and he responded to each one. As they chatted, they reached Grandpa Ye's doorstep, where Grandpa Ye and his family were having dinner. 0

Seeing them arrive, Aunt Ye quickly put down her chopsticks. "Jianguo and Chunying are here? Have you eaten? If not, come join us!" 0
"We've eaten already. Big Sister, you go ahead; don't worry about us," Hao Chunying replied with a smile. 0

Hao Chunying had a good relationship with Aunt Ye. If she married Ye Jianguo and moved out later, they wouldn't have many chances to interact. 0

"I'm almost done too; please sit down! By the way, there were peaches for sale at the grocery store today; I bought a few and washed them," Aunt Ye said enthusiastically as she began to wash the peaches. 0

"Little Second, did you come here for something?" Grandpa Ye asked, aware that it was unusual for them to visit at this hour. 0
"Yes, there's something we need to discuss, but it's not urgent. We can wait until after dinner," Ye Jianguo replied. 0

Ye Fangfei observed her father and noted that his relationship with his parents might not be as good as it seemed. 0

Since they arrived, the couple had only exchanged a few words when people were around; otherwise, they remained silent. Ye Fangfei and Hao Chunying sat on the chairs when Aunt Ye entered with some washed peaches. 0

"Here, Chunying, Feifei, have some peaches," she said, handing each of them a peach. 0

"Thank you, Aunt Ye," Ye Fangfei replied gratefully as she accepted the peach. 0

"How's the job situation for you two? Any progress?" Aunt Ye inquired. 0

"Oh, finding a job isn't that easy. Right now, all the big factories aren't hiring," Hao Chunying said. 0

"That's true. Fanghua is also worried about her job every day. If she can't find one soon, she might have to go to the countryside," Aunt Ye said with concern. 0

Ye Fanghua was Ye Fangfei's cousin, just a year older than her at nineteen. However, she had started school late and only graduated from middle school this year. 0

Aunt Ye and Uncle Ye had two sons and one daughter; both sons were already married. The only daughter left was Ye Fanghua, but she was also nineteen now. Soon enough, it would be either marriage or going to the countryside for her as well. 0

"Yes, it's really hard to find work these days. We've heard that some people are selling jobs, but they charge four hundred yuan for a temporary position. Plus, it's not stable, so we didn't buy it," Hao Chunying added. 0

"What kind of job is it? Which unit is it?" Aunt Ye immediately showed interest upon hearing this. 0
