After all, people at this time really preferred to stay indoors if they could.
"Really? When are my parents coming? I'll go pick them up with you," Ye Fangfei said.
"My parents sent me a telegram before they boarded the train. They’ll arrive this afternoon," Tang Zhi replied.
It was already afternoon, and Ye Fangfei thought about how her in-laws' new home was still empty. They couldn’t possibly let them sleep on the bare floor when they arrived, could they?
"Oh no, why didn’t you say so earlier? Where will they sleep? Our house has nothing!" Ye Fangfei exclaimed.
Tang Zhi realized she was right. He had been so excited about his parents coming that he hadn’t arranged for their food and lodging.
"If you hadn’t mentioned it, I would have completely forgotten! Should we let my parents stay at a guesthouse?" Tang Zhi suggested, knowing full well that their home was lacking in essentials and that there wouldn’t be enough time to prepare.
"Stay at a guesthouse? That costs money! Besides, it wouldn’t be comfortable for them," Ye Fangfei replied.
"Well, my mother has already prepared the bedding for us. We can find some kraft paper and cover the bed with it. We can also buy some bedding from the supply store; I have some sheets here."
"Let’s set up the bed first so that my parents have somewhere to sleep tonight. However, they can only stay in the small room on the west side; our new house can’t be used for guests," Ye Fangfei organized everything meticulously.
Moreover, she had her own principles; even if it was Tang Zhi’s family, she didn’t plan to let them stay in their new home.
Tang Zhi suggested the guesthouse because he was worried that Ye Fangfei might feel uncomfortable with outsiders staying in their new house right after their wedding.
He didn’t expect Ye Fangfei to be so understanding and even offer the bedding made by her family for his parents to use.
As for her saying they shouldn’t stay in their bedroom, wasn’t that only natural? Tang Zhi didn’t see any issue with it at all. Even if Ye Fangfei hadn’t mentioned it, he wouldn’t have allowed his parents to stay in their room.
"Thank you, Feifei. You’re really wonderful," Tang Zhi said, looking at Ye Fangfei with gratitude.
Feeling his gaze upon her made Ye Fangfei blush slightly. She playfully glared at him and asked, "What are you looking at? Haven't you seen anyone before?"
"I’m just admiring my beautiful wife," Tang Zhi suddenly said.
After saying that, his ears turned red as well. Ye Fangfei hadn’t expected such a sweet confession from him and felt her face flush with embarrassment.
A pink atmosphere enveloped the two of them, especially as Tang Zhi looked at Ye Fangfei with eyes that seemed to sparkle.
At this moment, Tang Zhi felt an immense sense of gratitude for agreeing to the blind date with Aunt Fang. Initially, he had consented to the match because of his age and the fact that the matchmaker was his own leader; he thought it would be inappropriate to refuse.
After the date, he realized that Ye Fangfei had excellent qualities and met his expectations for a partner. As they spent more time together, he found that her personality complemented his well, and they had plenty to talk about. Their feelings gradually deepened.
Even so, Tang Zhi never imagined that Ye Fangfei would go so far for him. They hadn’t even moved into their new home yet, but she was willing to let her parents stay there first. In that moment, Tang Zhi felt he had fallen in love with this kind-hearted girl. He also realized that he needed to treat Ye Jianguo and her family better in the future. After all, his wife was so good to his family; it was only right for him to reciprocate and be good to her parents as well.
