Ye Fangfei was busy in the kitchen preparing dinner. Since Ye Jianguo and Hao Chunying still had to work, the task of cooking fell entirely on her shoulders. The fish and meat had been bought earlier that morning, so Ye Fangfei first set about stewing the fish. One fish wouldn’t be enough, but fortunately, she had also purchased some tofu, which would make a delicious fish and tofu stew. 0

She needed to add something to the meat as well; there would be many people for dinner that night—not only Tang Zhi's parents and brothers but also his aunt and uncle. Her brother and sister-in-law were coming over too, along with their family of three, making it a gathering of more than ten people. With so many mouths to feed, there needed to be plenty of dishes. 0

Ye Fangfei rummaged through the vegetables at home and found a few potatoes, deciding to make braised pork with potatoes. She planned to stir-fry some greens, toss a cucumber salad, and cook some rice. Those were about all the dishes she could prepare with the ingredients on hand. Luckily, Ye Jianguo had mentioned that he would bring back two dishes from the state-run restaurant when he returned home. 0

With those additions, the meal would be more satisfying. Today, both Ye Jianguo and Hao Chunying had taken leave to come home early. Ye Jianguo returned from the restaurant with two dishes: one was white-cut chicken, and the other was four happiness meatballs. These were indeed substantial dishes; with them on the table, even hosting relatives would feel adequate. 0

Aunt Hao and Aunt Fang also arrived early from work. Once dinner was ready and set on the table, they awaited the arrival of the Tang family. Tang Zhi came over at six in the evening with his parents. 0

Tang Laohan and his family didn’t come empty-handed either; they brought a large bag of mushrooms and wood ear mushrooms from their hometown. They also brought a free-range chicken and half a portion of cured sausage and bacon. 0

As they entered, Liang Cunman, who was washing his hands in the yard, was the first to notice them. 0

"Little Tang is here? Who's this?" Liang Cunman asked curiously upon seeing Tang Zhi accompanied by several people. 0

"Uncle Liang, have you eaten yet? These are my parents and my older brother and second brother. We're here to visit my father-in-law," Tang Zhi replied while greeting him. 0

"Oh, it's your parents! It's about time for our two families to meet," Liang Cunman said warmly as he greeted Tang Laohan and his wife. "You must take some time to explore Beijing while you're here!" 0

Tang Laohan did not expect Liang Cunman to greet them so warmly, showing no signs of disdain. He was taken aback and quickly replied, "Of course, of course." 0

After exchanging a few words, Liang Cunman raised his voice and called out towards the Ye family’s direction, "Old Ye, your in-laws have arrived! Come out!" 0

Inside the house, the Ye family was also waiting for their arrival. Upon hearing Liang Cunman's call, Ye Jianguo took the lead and came out. 0

After Tang Zhi introduced them, Ye Jianguo struck up a conversation with Tang Laohan. 0

Hao Chunying also took Tang Laotai's hand and entered the house. 0

The remaining Tang Zhiwen and Tang Zhiwu began to entertain Ye Zijun. 0

"In-laws, you’ve come! This time you must stay for a few more days. Let Xiao Tang take you around," Ye Jianguo said, noticing Tang Laohan's slight awkwardness, so he took the initiative to speak. 0

"I would like to stay longer too, but it’s busy on the farm right now, so I can't take too much time off," Tang Laohan replied, looking a bit reserved. "We need to head back soon after the third son gets married." 0

In contrast to Tang Laohan's shyness, Tang Laotai was much more at ease. She held Hao Chunying's hand and praised Ye Fangfei enthusiastically. "This girl is raised well; she’s beautiful and educated." 0

"I truly like this child, Fangfei. Don’t worry, sister; once she marries into our family, I will treat her like my own daughter." 0
