"Did they say when they would be back?" Ye Fangfei asked again. 0

"No, it seems the convoy had something to discuss with Lao San, but they didn't mention when they'd return," Tang Laotai replied. 0

Staying at home was so boring that it would be better to go with Lao San and the others to the convoy. Ye Fangfei noticed that Tang Laotai was also feeling restless. She thought that instead of just staring at each other at home, it would be better to take her out for a stroll. 0

"Since they don't know when they'll be back, let's go out for a bit ourselves," she suggested. "Mother, I'll take you to the department store for a good look around. Let's see if there's anything you like; I'll buy it for you." 0

Ye Fangfei genuinely wanted to buy something for Tang Laotai, not for any other reason but because of the men in their lives. Since Tang Laotai and her husband would be returning in a couple of days, Ye Fangfei planned to buy each of them a piece of clothing. She also wanted to get some local specialties so that when they returned, the couple could have some face and even brag a little. 0

Ye Fangfei had some fabric at home, which was somewhat flawed but still usable. It was all brought over by Hao Chunying. However, she still preferred to buy something from the department store for her in-laws—not just for any reason, but because of the reputation of the Beijing department store. Making clothes from flawed fabric for her in-laws might not sound good when mentioned outside. 0

Moreover, this was her first time giving gifts to her parents-in-law, and she wanted to avoid leaving any room for criticism as much as possible. 0

When she mentioned going to the department store, Tang Laotai's interest was piqued. During her visit to Beijing, aside from visiting a few tourist spots, she hadn't had the chance to explore the department store yet. 0

Coughing lightly, she added, "Not just the Beijing department store; I haven't even been to our county's department store." 0

But that didn't matter; what mattered was that her daughter-in-law wanted to take her to explore the Beijing department store. This way, she would have more stories to share when she returned home. 0

"Well then, I won't worry about buying things; if you have time, just take me out for a stroll," Tang Laotai said excitedly yet a bit shyly. "I’ve never been to a department store before." 0

"What's there to laugh about? Today I’ll take you out for as long as you want. And I’ll treat you to lunch at a restaurant," Ye Fangfei said nonchalantly. 0

"Why go out to eat? What’s the point of spending money? Whatever you want to eat, I can make it for you." Regardless of whether they went out or not, Ye Fangfei's words made Tang Laotai feel truly comfortable inside. 0

Without hesitation, Ye Fangfei went back into the house to grab some cash and left a note for Tang Zhicheng, informing him that she was taking her mother out for a shopping trip and wouldn’t be back until noon. As for what the men would eat for lunch, Ye Fangfei decided it was none of her concern. 0

To accommodate Old Madam Tang, Ye Fangfei chose not to ride her bicycle but instead took the bus. Throughout the journey, although Old Madam Tang tried her best to contain her excitement, she couldn't help but gaze around in wonder. 0

Once they reached their stop, Ye Fangfei helped her mother off the bus. The department store they visited was a four-story building. Old Madam Tang had never seen such a tall structure before. Standing at the entrance and watching well-dressed people come and go, she suddenly felt a twinge of inferiority. 0

“Feifei, are we really going in?” Old Madam Tang asked quietly. 0

“Of course! Now that we’re here, we have to go inside. Come on, Mother, let’s go,” Ye Fangfei replied, leading the way into the department store. 0

The first floor of the store featured daily necessities. Ye Fangfei didn’t have much to buy, so she simply took Old Madam Tang around for a quick look. Just as they were about to head up to the second floor, a sales clerk who had just finished assisting a customer spotted them. “Feifei, is that you?” 0
