Ye Fangfei bought some chives and made chive pockets for lunch, accompanied by a bowl of seaweed egg drop soup. When Tang Zhicheng returned home, he was greeted by the delicious aroma of the chive pockets. 0

"Wife, these chive pockets are really good," Tang Zhicheng said as he pinched a piece and took a bite. 0

"Go ahead and eat more; I made plenty," Ye Fangfei replied, flipping the chive pockets in the pan. 0

"Wife, what can I do to help?" Tang Zhicheng asked, wanting to lend a hand instead of just waiting to eat. 0

Ye Fangfei looked around and, seeing nothing much for him to do, suggested, "How about you take out the bowls and chopsticks? I'm almost done; this is the last batch." 0

"Okay," Tang Zhicheng replied, gathering their bowls and chopsticks and placing them on the dining table. He returned with a bowl of soup. 0

Once Ye Fangfei finished cooking the last batch of chive pockets, she joined him at the table. Tang Zhicheng first served her a bowl of soup and added a chive pocket to her plate before serving himself. 0

As they were finishing their meal, Tang Zhicheng said to Ye Fangfei, "Wife, I need to go out of town tomorrow." 0

"This trip is a bit far; I might be gone for ten days to half a month," he added. 0

Ye Fangfei understood his work well; it was quite normal for him to be away for that long. After all, Uncle Fang had been a driver too. So she accepted his business trip without concern. 0

"Where are you going? Make sure to pay attention to safety on the road. Don't rush; even if you're late by a couple of days, it's fine," Ye Fangfei reminded him earnestly. 0

Tang Zhicheng listened attentively without showing any impatience, nodding occasionally. Since he left home at eighteen, it had been a long time since anyone had cared for him like this. 0

"Yeah, I know. Don't worry. This time we're heading to Shanxi. I've heard that besides the aged vinegar, their millet is also quite good. If I get the chance, I'll bring back some for you and your family, as well as for Auntie and the others," Tang Zhicheng said. 0

"Be careful when buying things; they're cracking down on that sort of thing outside now. Don't get caught in trouble," Ye Fangfei cautioned him, knowing that he often brought back local specialties to make some extra money. 0

"But now things are tense; I'm worried you might slip up and get into trouble," she added. 0

"I know; don't worry. The things we bring back will be sold directly to one person; we won't sell them piecemeal," Tang Zhicheng reassured her, indicating that they had a reliable contact and wouldn't be selling things themselves. 0

Ye Fangfei nodded; that sounded much safer. 0

However, it was uncertain whether this contact was trustworthy. Still, Tang Zhicheng and his team were experienced, so it seemed that the person was likely reliable. 0

"You take care and be safe. I'll prepare some dry rations for you to eat on the way this afternoon," Ye Fangfei said. 0

In the afternoon, Tang Zhicheng returned to work. Ye Fangfei began preparing the dry rations for him to take the next day. 0

Although it was already late August, the weather was still somewhat hot. Regular meals couldn't be preserved for long periods. Therefore, Ye Fangfei decided to stir-fry some noodles for Tang Zhicheng. 0

She took out two pounds of flour, sprinkled a little water on it, and steamed it over high heat until cooked. Then she heated oil in a pan and tossed the steamed noodles in, stirring them back and forth. 0

She continued to fry until the noodles turned golden and released a fragrant aroma. If she had sesame seeds—whether black or white—she would toss in a handful for extra flavor. 0

It’s worth mentioning that this stir-fried noodle dish requires a lot of oil; using half a pound of oil for every pound of flour is no exaggeration. However, that wasn't enough. Inspired by modern instant noodles, Ye Fangfei also made some simple fried noodles. 0
