Having confirmed her acceptance, Ye Fangfei wanted to find someone to ask when she should complete her paperwork. As she looked around, unsure of which office to approach, she spotted the first person who had reviewed her account book during the exam.
Though they were not acquainted, their face seemed familiar enough. Ye Fangfei stepped forward and greeted, "Hello, Zhi."
Wang, the accountant, had come out to get some hot water. Hearing someone call out to him, he looked up and replied, "Hello, hello." After taking a closer look, he smiled and said, "Oh, it's you! Are you here to check the hiring results?"
Ye Fangfei nodded. "Yes, I got hired. I just wanted to ask when I should report for duty."
"I know about that. Just bring your household registration book and high school diploma to the Human Resources office right now," Wang said.
To her surprise, Ye Fangfei had indeed brought those documents with her as a precaution. Following Wang's directions, she found the Human Resources office located on the floor above and completed her paperwork.
Though it was called Human Resources, there were only two people: a woman in her forties and a young man in his teens. Ye Fangfei approached them and pulled out a handful of large rabbit-shaped candies from her pocket, placing them on the woman's desk. "Sister, have some candy. From now on we’re colleagues; I hope you’ll take care of me."
After that, she placed another handful of candies on the young man's desk as well, saying, "Candy for you too."
As the saying goes, "A gift makes the mouth sweet." With those rabbit candies in hand, the woman’s attitude towards Ye Fangfei changed immediately.
"You're Xiao Ye, right? My surname is Chen; you can call me Sister Chen. This is Xiao Tianbao," she said warmly.
"Feel free to drop by anytime," Sister Chen added enthusiastically.
"Sure!" Ye Fangfei replied readily.
Sister Chen helped her complete the necessary procedures and instructed her to go downstairs to the third room to collect her work uniform and towels before heading up to see Manager Yao on the third floor for reporting.
After thanking Sister Chen, Ye Fangfei went downstairs to pick up her work uniform and benefits. Then she made her way to the third floor to find the manager's office.
Standing in front of the manager's door, Ye Fangfei took a deep breath and knocked gently. A voice from inside called out, "Come in."
Ye Fangfei pushed the door open and entered the room, where she saw an office desk with a man in his forties or fifties sitting behind it. This man was one of the leaders who had conducted their exam three days ago.
"Hello, Leader. I am Ye Fangfei, here to report for duty today," she said as she stepped further into the room.
"Hello, hello! Welcome, Xiaoye Zhi, to our big family at the department store. I hope you will work hard in your position," Yao Jiwan replied warmly, clearly waiting for her arrival.
"Rest assured, Leader. I will definitely work hard," Ye Fangfei promised.
"Good, good. You need to learn well from Accountant Wang," Yao Jiwan continued. It turned out that the original accountant, Old Wang, would be transferring to a higher unit by the end of this month.
"For the next few days, you'll be shadowing Old Wang to familiarize yourself with the work. Once he leaves, this whole responsibility will fall on you," Manager Yao explained.
Only then did Ye Fangfei understand why the department store was hiring someone when everything seemed fine.
"Don't worry, Leader. I will learn diligently," she assured him again.
Having said what needed to be said, Manager Yao stood up. "Let's go; I'll take you to the accounting office and introduce you to the various departments."
"This is the Director's office. Our department store has two directors: one oversees daily necessities while the other manages food and high-end products," Manager Yao pointed out as he introduced her to the office across from his own.
