"Hey, Lao Hao, is that your Feifei?"
"Where? Where?" Hao Chunying quickly turned around to look.
"Mom, Aunt Wang, Grandma Sun." Ye Fangfei approached, having just gotten out of her car.
"Feifei is back?"
"Wow, Feifei hasn't been home for a few days!" Wang Dazui and Grandma Sun stood up to clear the way for Ye Fangfei at the entrance.
"What have you been up to these past few days? I was just saying I wanted to come see you!" As she spoke, she noticed the egg cakes and Xifeng liquor in Ye Fangfei's car basket. "You come back and bring things too, what's that all about?"
Ye Fangfei pushed her car inside while replying, "Mom, I haven't been here because I've started working."
"I bought these things for you and Dad."
"What? Feifei, you started working?" Hao Chunying's voice rose in shock.
"Who started working?" Liu Qiaofang from the yard was washing clothes and looked up at Hao Chunying's words.
"What? Feifei started working?" Wang Dazui perked up his ears and hurried over to ask.
"Did Chunying just say that Feifei started working?"
"That can't be true, right? Who's hiring now?"
"I heard it too; did Feifei really find a job?"
"I haven't heard of any place hiring. Did you hear anything?"
Hao Chunying's shout brought out the neighbors who were resting at home. Everyone gathered around to find out what was going on. They were all curious about where Ye Fangfei had found a job.
At this point, even if Ye Fangfei wanted to go back, she couldn't. She could only stand there and tell everyone, "I'm working at the West City Department Store now."
"Oh! You really got a job? Salespeople are in demand these days!"
"I didn't expect Feifei to have such skills and find such a job," Liu Qiaofang said with a hint of envy.
Hao Chunying was so shocked to hear that her daughter had found such a job that she was momentarily speechless. After a while, she regained her composure and squeezed her way to Ye Fangfei's side. "Daughter, are you really working at the department store? Which counter are you in charge of?"
Hao Chunying assumed that Ye Fangfei's job was as a sales clerk. She didn't ask how Ye Fangfei had found the job, knowing well how difficult it was to secure one these days. It wasn't something one could casually discuss in public. She thought that perhaps Tang Zhicheng had used his connections to help her.
"Yes, it's true. But I'm not a sales clerk; I'm working as an accountant at the department store," Ye Fangfei replied.
"What? Accountant?" Hao Chunying exclaimed in surprise.
"Yes, accountant," Ye Fangfei confirmed.
"Being an accountant is much easier than standing at a counter. My Feifei is truly capable!" Hao Chunying said, tears of joy streaming down her face.
The neighbors who had gathered around also heard that Ye Fangfei had become an accountant at the department store. They began to praise her in unison: "Feifei is indeed talented; being an accountant is far better than being a sales clerk."
"I could tell from a young age that she would succeed, and now look at her!" one neighbor remarked.
"Feifei, if the department store gets any new products in the future, you must give us a heads-up," another added.
Ye Fangfei hadn't expected such a strong reaction from everyone over just landing a job. After finally managing to send the neighbors away, she followed Hao Chunying back home.
