However, she clearly had an opinion about Hao Chunying, and her attitude had changed significantly. Seeing her daughter-in-law's demeanor, Hao Chunying naturally didn't show any pleasant expression either. Both of them cared about their reputations; although they kept silent in public, only they knew the true nature of their relationship.
After being scolded by her mother-in-law, Yi Xiaoli didn't lose heart. Once they finished dinner, she took advantage of Hao Chunying going into the house and pulled Ye Fangfei into their room. Although Ye Fangfei was reluctant, Yi Xiaoli had a strong grip and wouldn't let go.
With no other choice, Ye Fangfei followed her into the room. This room used to be Ye Fangfei's before she got married. Now it had changed dramatically, filled with all sorts of clutter. The abundance of items made it look particularly messy.
"Feifei, sit here," Yi Xiaoli said as she pushed some of the clutter aside on the bed.
"No need, sister-in-law, just say what you need," Ye Fangfei replied.
"Well, I wanted to talk to you about something," Yi Xiaoli began. "You know my family's situation—my two younger brothers are still small, and my sister doesn't have a job. I was wondering if you could help me find a job for my sister."
"I was a bit foolish earlier; I didn't realize how sought-after the sales clerk position at the department store is. There's no way my sister could get that."
"Could you possibly ask your friends for help? It doesn't have to be anything specific; even a temporary job would be fine as long as she can work."
After finishing her request, Yi Xiaoli looked at Ye Fangfei expectantly.
Ye Fangfei couldn't help but laugh in disbelief at Yi Xiaoli's audacity. Where did she get the confidence to think that Ye Fangfei would agree to such an outrageous request? Jobs were incredibly precious these days; people were offering large sums of money just to find one. Even a temporary position would pay two or three hundred yuan outside.
Yet here Yi Xiaoli was, just touching her lips together and expecting to secure a job. Ye Fangfei hadn't anticipated that Yi Xiaoli would be so thick-skinned; since that was the case, she decided there was no need to be polite anymore.
"Sister-in-law, it's not that I don't want to help, but you know how hard it is to find a job these days. Why should my friend help your sister?" Ye Fangfei asked bluntly. "And jobs don't come for free. How much are you planning to pay to help your sister find a job?"
"Isn't she your friend? Why should there be any money involved? Am I begging you because I have money?" Yi Xiaoli had no intention of spending any money.
"What are you thinking? Don't you know what the situation is out there?" Ye Fangfei shot back. "Even with money, you can't just buy a job. Do you really think someone would give it to you for free?"
"Are you imagining that if your sister gets the job, then I owe you a favor? Do I look like a fool to you?" Ye Fangfei retorted.
Yi Xiaoli actually thought this way; she had never considered using her own money to help her sister find a job. Her reasoning was that since Ye Fangfei was connected, and she managed to get an accounting position at the department store, why couldn't she introduce her sister to a job? They weren't picky about positions.
As for Ye Fangfei claiming she got her job through her own efforts, Yi Xiaoli simply didn't believe it. If getting a job was that easy, there would be plenty of unemployed people in the city. So, she was convinced that the manager of the department store had opened a backdoor for Ye Fangfei.
