They mentioned that all these mountain goods were picked and dried by themselves at home. They wanted to assure them that it was safe to eat, and after they finished, they would send more. They even asked if they would be going home for the New Year.
After reading the letter, both of them felt a surge of emotion. Ye Fangfei took out the items she had bought from the supply building. "These are the defective goods we processed today. Since it was my first time, everyone let me pick first, so I ended up with a bit more. I chose some practical items to send back to my parents. My mother even gave me two pieces of fabric to send back as well," Ye Fangfei explained.
Tang Zhi didn't expect Ye Fangfei to be so thoughtful, preparing gifts for her parents too. "Wife, thank you. These things are all practical. My parents will definitely like them," Tang Zhi said affectionately as he looked at Ye Fangfei.
"Oh, there's no need to thank me. They have been so good to us; it's only right that I buy them something," Ye Fangfei replied.
Tang Zhi didn't say anything more; he simply held Ye Fangfei gently in his arms.
That night, Tang Zhi tenderly cherished Ye Fangfei again and again. Although they had married through an arranged meeting, their feelings for each other were growing warmer and deeper.
The next day, Ye Fangfei packed the items and asked Tang Zhi to send them out. On Sunday, they made a trip back to her hometown, where they picked up some mountain goods sent from home. They also brought a little for Aunt Hao. Although it seemed like a lot at first glance, it didn’t amount to much after all.
However, with just the two of them at home, it was enough to last for a while. In the days that followed, they went about their routines as usual.
In mid-October, Tang Zhi went out on another trip and this time he asked Ye Fangfei to fry him some noodles. The weather had turned cold, and there was nothing better than having a pack of instant noodles on the road when hunger struck.
Ye Fangfei not only made him a simple version of instant noodles but also steamed some sausages. Adding a sausage while soaking the noodles made for a delicious and nutritious meal.
She had boiled another twenty tea eggs, knowing that with the cold weather, it was wise to prepare more food. Ye Fangfei had everything ready for Tang Zhi.
That afternoon, when Tang Zhi returned, he brought back two people with him. These two were his partners from the last trip, including Lao Wu. This time, they were still working together, and Lao Wu had come over to ask Ye Fangfei for some instant noodles.
During their last trip, Tang Zhi had brought fried noodles and instant noodles, and Lao Wu had enjoyed them quite a bit. As truck drivers, they often faced the elements and found it hard to find places to eat on the road, so snacking on dry rations was common. Having instant noodles meant at least they could have something warm to eat. Moreover, the taste of instant noodles was genuinely good. Just thinking about it made Lao Wu swallow.
Now that they were preparing for another trip, Lao Wu immediately thought of the instant noodles when packing their supplies. Although he would still be sharing a truck with Tang Zhi this time, he knew Ye Fangfei would definitely prepare those instant noodles for him again. However, he didn’t want to keep mooching off Tang Zhi; after all, food didn’t just come from thin air.
Instant noodles were made from white flour and required oil as well, making them quite precious. Lao Wu didn’t want to take advantage of Tang Zhi but really wanted to eat those instant noodles. So he asked Tang Zhi to take him back home after work, hoping that Ye Fangfei could make him some instant noodles too.
