"Third Sister-in-law, have you really started working at the warehouse?" Wang Zhaodi asked. 0

Ye Fangfei nodded, "Yes, I got a job as an accountant at the warehouse." 0

There was no need to hide this; they would find out sooner or later. 0

"The warehouse must pay well, right? You must be earning quite a bit each month," Zhang Man chimed in. 0

"Not really. I'm new there, and I only make thirty coins a month," Ye Fangfei replied. 0

"Thirty coins? My goodness! How can you survive on just thirty coins a month? That's quite a lot!" Wang Zhaodi exclaimed. 0

They worked hard in the fields every day, and by the end of the year, the entire family barely earned eighty coins. 0

It sounded like a lot, but that was for a whole family, and when divided among everyone, it wasn't much at all. 0

Zhang Man was equally envious. "Thirty coins a month? That adds up to over three hundred a year!" 0

"That's just from Ye Fangfei's earnings. What about Tang Zhicheng?" 0

Thinking about how much money the couple could make in a month made Zhang Man feel sour, as if she had swallowed a mouthful of vinegar. 0

Even Old Lady Tang seemed to have forgotten about the argument with Ye Fangfei from yesterday and treated her with kindness again. 0

It seemed that having a job made a real difference in their attitudes. 0

Since Old Lady Tang didn't bring up yesterday's incident, Ye Fangfei decided to let it go as well. The two women resumed their light-hearted conversation. 0

On New Year's Eve, the feast was lavish: braised pork, braised fish, chicken stew with mushrooms, four happiness meatballs, fried crispy meat, and pot-wrapped meat, along with several vegetable dishes. 0

The whole family gathered around the table in high spirits. Old Man Tang picked up a piece of meat with his chopsticks and placed it in his bowl. 0

"Let's eat," he said. 0

Only then did everyone start to dig in. 0

After the meal, the three sisters-in-law gathered the bowls and chopsticks to take them to the kitchen. 0

Ye Fangfei wanted to help wash the dishes too, but Zhang Man stopped her. "Third Sister-in-law, you don't need to do that. My sister-in-law and I can handle it." 0

"You should rest in the other room. It's not easy for you to come here; take a break." 0

Wang Zhaodi was worried that Ye Fangfei might grow closer to Zhang Man and forget about her, so she quickly added, "Yes, Third Sister-in-law, you should go rest. We're used to doing these chores; you don't need to worry about it." 0

Ye Fangfei didn't want to wash the dishes either. Since both of her sisters-in-law had said so, she decided to go along with it. She still needed to make dumplings later that night and stay up to welcome the New Year, so she had to grab some time to sleep; otherwise, she wouldn't be able to hold out until evening. 0

Tang Zhicheng, however, was not inclined to rest. After dinner, he and his brothers went out to chat with friends. The kang in the room was warm, and just as Ye Fangfei was about to lie down, she remembered that she hadn't prepared the red envelopes yet. Tomorrow would be the first day of the Lunar New Year, and the children would come to pay their respects, expecting red envelopes in return. 0

She had some change but no red paper for the envelopes. So she went back to the old lady's room and asked for a piece of red paper. In total, Ye Fangfei prepared twenty red envelopes, each containing a dime. Even then, she worried it wouldn't be enough since there were four children in her family and two in Tang Zhijing's family. 0

She wasn't sure if any relatives would bring their children over. Would they not give red envelopes? She would have to ask Old Lady Tang about that. 0

After finishing the red envelopes, Ye Fangfei climbed onto the kang and pulled a quilt over herself to sleep. After all, she still needed to help with making dumplings later on. 0
