Ye Fangfei returned to the main room with the fabric in hand. 0

Tang Zhijing looked at the fabric with surprise and approached her eagerly. "Sister-in-law, is this fabric for me?" 0

"Yes, sister-in-law, each of you three gets a piece," Ye Fangfei replied as she handed the fabric to her. 0

Tang Zhijing cherished the feel of the fabric; since getting married, this was the first time she could make herself a piece of clothing. "This pattern is beautiful! Thank you, Sister-in-law." 0

"I haven't made any clothes in a while either. Today, I’ll take advantage of your generosity and make myself a shirt," Tang Zhijing said happily. 0

"That's right! We all benefit from Sister-in-law's kindness. I haven't made anything in ages either," Wang Zhaodi chimed in. 0

"Who says otherwise? We only have a few inches of fabric tickets among us. It takes gathering together to make one outfit," Tang Zhijing added. 0

"The kids grow so fast; we have to keep up with them," Wang Zhaodi continued. 0

"And if there’s any left over, it has to go towards making something for the men," she sighed. "It's tough on ourselves; I only made one piece of clothing when I got married." 0

"I'm better off than some; there are those who never get to wear a single piece of clothing their whole lives, just wearing their sisters' hand-me-downs," Zhang Man remarked. 0

"Exactly! We’re considered lucky. Some people grow up without ever having a new outfit," Wang Zhaodi agreed. 0

"I had it a bit better; since I didn’t have an older sister at home, I could still manage to make myself an outfit or two," Tang Zhijing said. 0

"When I got married, I also had a full set of clothes made for myself. But after marriage, every piece of fabric ticket is controlled by my mother-in-law," she lamented. "I can’t see any of it; it all goes to others." 0

The group continued discussing the challenges of being daughters and daughters-in-law. This made Ye Fangfei once again grateful that she hadn’t come to the countryside. How would she manage in such difficult living conditions? 0

She felt even more fortunate that she had married Tang Zhi, living far from her mother-in-law, who rarely came back to visit. 0

In these past few days, she had come to see clearly that although her mother-in-law, Old Lady Tang, wasn’t exactly harsh, she was not easy to get along with either. While her two sisters-in-law weren’t ground down by their mother-in-law, they still had to listen to her about everything big and small. 0

Living under the watchful eye of her mother-in-law every day was no easy feat. With her temperament, she couldn't endure such grievances for long. After a brief conversation among a few people, it was time to prepare dinner. Since Tang Zhijing and the others had arrived, lunch would be served earlier today. 0

Old Lady Tang took out the ingredients needed for the meal and then returned to the room to chat with her sons and sons-in-law. The three sisters-in-law, led by Tang Zhijing, began bustling about in the kitchen. Wang Zhaodi was still in charge of cooking, while Zhang Man, being pregnant, was assigned to sit and tend the fire. Tang Zhijing and Ye Fangfei assisted Wang Zhaodi. 0

In truth, Ye Fangfei's cooking skills were far superior to Wang Zhaodi's. However, she had no intention of rushing to take on more responsibilities. In her previous life, she had heard from a senior colleague that one should never let their in-laws know they could do everything. Doing so would only lead them to push all the chores onto you, under the guise of praising your cooking. It was best to let your in-laws believe you were incapable of doing much at all; that way, life would be easier and less exhausting. 0

With their combined efforts, they quickly prepared a feast that filled the table to the brim. After finishing their meal, Tang Zhijing and the others lingered for a while before hurrying back home. Winter nights fell early; by four o'clock in the afternoon, it was already dark outside. The roads were covered in snow and difficult to navigate, especially with children in tow, so they had to leave early. 0
