After seeing off Tang Zhijing and his family, Ye Fangfei returned to her room with Tang Zhicheng.
Tang Zhicheng first prepared hot water for his wife to wash up, and only then did he casually clean himself before joining her on the bed.
"Are you tired, my dear?" he asked as he wrapped his arms around Ye Fangfei.
Ye Fangfei shot him a playful glare. "What are you up to? Are you thinking of doing something naughty?"
"What do you think? Don’t you want to?" Tang Zhicheng replied, leaning in closer.
It had been a few days since they had been intimate; there had been no opportunity during their train journey. Once they returned home, they were busy interacting with family, which was exhausting. Now that they finally had some quiet time together, thoughts began to stir.
Being newlyweds, they were still in that passionate phase of their relationship, and after a few days apart, Tang Zhicheng was eager to pull Ye Fangfei back into their private world.
That night, Ye Fangfei found herself tossed and turned by Tang Zhicheng's enthusiasm until the early hours of the morning.
The next day, a refreshed Tang Zhicheng woke up early. He first added a few more logs to the stove and then washed both his and Ye Fangfei's clothes from the previous day.
Outside, Wang Zhaodi and Zhang Man were already up as well. They had grown accustomed to seeing Tang Zhicheng do laundry for Ye Fangfei.
During the past few days since Ye Fangfei returned, they had witnessed just how much Tang Zhicheng cared for her. Not only did he wash her clothes, but at mealtimes, he was always attentive to her needs, ensuring her bowl was never empty. He would even argue with Old Lady Tang on Ye Fangfei's behalf.
Wang Zhaodi and Zhang Man genuinely envied Ye Fangfei—not just because she had a job with a salary and didn’t have to live under her mother-in-law’s thumb but also because she had found a good man.
However, their envy remained just that—an emotion kept within their hearts. Comparing themselves to Ye Fangfei was impossible; there simply was no basis for comparison. Despite being brothers, Tang Zhi and Tang Zhiwu were nothing like Tang Zhicheng.
They were different from Tang Zhicheng.
They were all particularly strict and male chauvinistic. On the surface, they seemed fine, but if they got truly angry, they could become violent. Wang Zhaodi and Zhang Man had both experienced their wrath.
Do you think that's why they lived so obediently under the thumb of Old Madam Tang for so many years without causing a stir? It was because Tang Zhi and Tang Zhiwu listened to Old Madam Tang. If they stirred up trouble, they would surely face a beating. They dared not provoke them.
Of course, the men later explained to them why they shouldn't cause trouble. The third brother, whether in the army or now at work, sent money home to their parents every month. Since they lived together with their parents, that money naturally went towards them. If they were to split the family, that money would no longer concern them.
So not only could they not cause a ruckus about splitting the family, but they also had to behave well in front of Old Madam Tang. They needed to earn her favor so that their branch could benefit more from the situation.
It must be said that these two brothers were truly alike; even the words they shared with their wives were the same. The sisters-in-law watched as the third brother finished washing clothes and then went into the kitchen to cook for Ye Fangfei.
They felt no envy or jealousy at all. Looking at the third brother and then at their own men, it was like comparing heaven and earth. There was simply no comparison to be made.
