As Ma Lian's daughter-in-law watched the drama unfold, she quickly rushed forward when she saw her mother-in-law at a disadvantage.

Ma Lianfa, witnessing Zhou Xiaoying daring to lay hands on his mother, charged forward and grabbed Zhou Xiaoying.

Ma Laotai, having gotten back on her feet, smoothed her hair and observed the chaos.
Ma Lianfa had several scratches on his face from Zhou Xiaoying's nails, which only fueled his anger further. Initially, he had only pretended to fight back without using his full strength against Zhou Xiaoying. But now he was truly going all out.
After all, Zhou Xiaoying was just a woman; there was no way she could match the strength of a man like Ma Lianfa. In the end, she could only lie on the ground, wailing as she took the beating without any ability to retaliate.
A few children were frightened and began to cry loudly.
The commotion at the Ma household drew the attention of neighbors in the courtyard who gathered around to see what was happening.
"What’s going on? Didn’t Ma Lianfa’s mother and brother’s family come over today? Why is there such a ruckus?" Li Baoguo was the first to step out.
"I don’t know; I just heard the noise," Liu Hai said as he arrived a moment later.
"What happened? Why is Xiaoying crying so hard?" Zhao Damao came out from her kitchen where she had been cooking when she heard the commotion.
"What’s going on in the Ma family?" Han Shengnan asked Zhao Damao.
"I'm not sure either; should we go over and see if we can help?" Zhao Damao suggested.
"It’s the first day of the new year; everyone in the courtyard is home," Zhao Damao's daughter pulled at her mother's sleeve.
"Mom, why do you care about Zhou Xiaoying? You remember how she treated you before I got married," Zhao Damao's daughter-in-law chimed in as well.
Madam Zhao felt quite angry as she recalled the incident. It all started when her daughter-in-law first came to their home with her son for a visit. Everything went smoothly at first, but unexpectedly, Zhou Xiaoying took advantage of Madam Zhao and the others' inattention to approach her daughter-in-law and speak ill of them. This nearly led to a breakup between Madam Zhao's son and his wife.
Although everything was eventually clarified after Madam Zhao confronted Zhou Xiaoying and they had a fight, their family had since cut ties with the Ma family. Now, as Madam Zhao wanted to intervene in the current dispute, her daughter-in-law and daughter were trying to stop her.
However, Madam Zhao was a warm-hearted person. Even though she usually disapproved of Zhou Xiaoying, she felt compelled to step in now that the Ma family was clearly in turmoil. After all, they were neighbors, and she believed it was necessary to offer some advice.
