Tang Zhicheng ate three large bowls of food and finished two steamed buns as well. After the meal, he didn't let Ye Fangfei wash the dishes; instead, he took it upon himself to clean up the bowls and chopsticks in the kitchen.
"Dear, why don't you pack up the things for Aunt Hao? I'll wash the dishes," Tang Zhicheng said before heading into the kitchen.
Ye Fangfei knew that Tang Zhicheng was being considerate, not wanting her to tire herself out. The items for Aunt Hao had already been packed yesterday, and Tang Zhicheng was aware of that; there was no need to organize anything now. However, she certainly wouldn't want to disappoint him. It was a good thing that he cared for her.
Ye Fangfei went into the room and placed everything meant for Aunt Hao into a net bag. By the time Tang Zhicheng finished washing the dishes, they were ready to set off.
Once again, Tang Zhicheng rode his bicycle with her on board. Aunt Hao's house was quite far away; it took them half an hour of cycling to reach it.
Aunt Hao lived in a tenement building owned by Uncle Fang. The building housed many people from the transportation department, and quite a few of them recognized Tang Zhicheng.
As he helped Ye Fangfei up the stairs, he greeted his colleagues from the building.
"Manager Liu, have you eaten yet?"
"Section Chief Li, is this your first time here?"
"Deputy Zhao, just finished eating?"
"Yes, yes! Little Tang, are you visiting your uncle?"
"There were some issues with the fleet, so I arrived a bit late. Are you heading to your uncle's house?"
"Yes, we just finished eating."
The floor where Aunt Hao lived was filled with leaders from the transportation department. Many people knew about Tang Zhicheng's relationship with Uncle Fang.
There was no surprise regarding Tang Zhicheng's arrival. He held Ye Fangfei's hand as they approached Aunt Hao's house.
At that moment, Aunt Hao and her family were having dinner when they heard someone knocking at the door.
"Aunt, Aunt!" Ye Fangfei called out while knocking.
"That sounds like Feifei," Aunt Hao said as she got up to open the door.
"Aunt!" Ye Fangfei smiled brightly as she greeted her.
"Ah, Feifei, come in! You two are back from your hometown?" Aunt Hao joyfully pulled Ye Fangfei inside.
Inside the house, Uncle Fang and the others put down their bowls and chopsticks to come out and talk to Ye Fangfei.
"Uncle, you should eat your meal. Don't worry about us," Ye Fangfei noticed that they hadn't finished their dinner yet.
"It's fine, Feifei. We can eat later," Uncle Fang replied.
"By the way, have you and your brother-in-law eaten? If not, I can fry a couple more dishes. Let your cousin keep your brother-in-law company for a drink," Aunt Hao enthusiastically offered.
"Hey, Sister-in-law, where's Xiaoyuan?" Ye Fangfei asked about her cousin, the son of Hu Qiuyue and her eldest cousin, Fang Dong.
"He went to his grandmother's house to play with his cousin. He said he wanted to enjoy a few more days before school starts," Hu Qiuyue explained.
"Here, brother-in-law, have some water. Feifei, you sit down too and warm up with some water," Hu Qiuyue brought over two cups of water.
