"Don't bring back something that's too expensive or different from what we discussed; everyone will have their opinions. We're helping out for everyone's sake, free of charge. If there are complaints, it won't be worth it, right?" Ye Fangfei preemptively addressed the possible concerns.
After she spoke, murmurs of discontent arose.
"Why is it so expensive? A coat costs over one hundred fifty dollars?"
"Exactly, if the coat is that pricey and we don't like it once we get it, what then? It's so far away, and we can't return it."
Ye Fangfei ignored the complaints; she had said what needed to be said, and whether they bought or not was up to them. Although a few people decided not to buy because of the price, Ye Fangfei still agreed to help twelve people get coats. She mentioned that they would try their best without making any promises.
Despite the grumbling, those dozen people were incredibly grateful. When Ye Fangfei returned home and shared the situation with Tang Zhicheng, he agreed to help.
"I told them that you might not be able to buy any either, so if it's difficult for you, you don't have to force yourself," Ye Fangfei said, worried that Tang Zhicheng might feel pressured because of her.
"Don't worry. The person I know usually deals in clothes on the side. I was actually considering whether to bring back a few pieces to sell. This works out perfectly."
"The more I take, the better I can negotiate. I should be able to get each coat for around one hundred ten dollars."
"Calculating that way, we could make forty dollars on each coat and have an additional ten yards of fabric vouchers. For twelve coats, that's a pure profit of four hundred eighty dollars plus one hundred twenty yards of fabric vouchers. That's more than your salary!"
The more Tang Zhicheng calculated, the more excited he became. Unable to contain himself, he pulled Ye Fangfei close and gave her a quick kiss.
"Wife, you're amazing! How did you think of raising the coat price by twenty dollars and adding ten yards of fabric vouchers?"
Tang Zhicheng increasingly cherished Ye Fangfei, feeling as though she was a gift from heaven meant just for him. Remembering his initial spark of inspiration made Ye Fangfei smile as well.
"I don't know how I thought of it at that moment; it just came to me that they might want you to bring back coats. You can't just help them out for nothing after going all that way, right? If I openly made money off them, they'd all be my friends and might think poorly of me later."
"I'll mark up the clothes a bit; that way, we not only make money, but they also owe us a favor. Isn't that a win-win situation?"
"Yes, my wife is really clever," Tang Zhicheng said, holding Ye Fangfei with satisfaction.
"Of course! Just look at who I am," Ye Fangfei thought to herself, feeling pleased at the prospect of bringing in over four hundred yuan at home.
A couple of days later, another opportunity arose to go to Haishi. Tang Zhicheng informed Uncle Fang and sent him off again.
This is the benefit of having connections. If it weren't for the fact that Tang Zhicheng had gone last time, he wouldn't have had the chance this time either. But with Uncle Fang around, it was different; whoever he decided to send was just a matter of his word.
This time, Tang Zhicheng was gone for five days and brought back twenty coats in total. Fifteen of them were the same style that Ye Fangfei was wearing.
There was also a mid-length coat with a belt that looked particularly stylish. However, this coat was expensive; it cost one hundred forty yuan wholesale and would sell for at least two hundred yuan or more.
But it truly was beautiful, and Ye Fangfei instantly fell in love with it.
