Zhou Xiaoying bid farewell to Chairman Song and headed home. To her surprise, she found Old Lady Ma and Ma Lianfa's brother waiting at her doorstep.
As soon as she saw them, her heart sank. She knew they were there to cause trouble again. She realized she couldn’t handle Old Lady Ma alone and decided not to approach them but instead turned toward the street office.
Sister Guihua, are you working today? Are you busy? As Zhou Xiaoying entered, she saw Sister Guihua sitting behind a desk.
Of course, she wasn’t alone in the room; there were several others present. However, she only recognized Tian Guihua, who was also the deputy director, so she greeted her first.
Tian Guihua looked up and saw Zhou Xiaoying, smiling as she said, "Xiaoying, are you looking for me about something?"
"Yes, Sister Guihua. My mother-in-law and the others have come again; they're right outside my door," Zhou Xiaoying replied. "I'm worried they might cause a scene again, so I wanted to ask if we could get someone from the neighborhood office to help me resolve this once and for all. Otherwise, they keep showing up every few days, and I really can't take it anymore."
"They're back again? Didn't they take all of Old Ma's things last time?" Tian Guihua asked.
"Yes, just the day before yesterday, Ma Laotai and her family came by. They found out that I want to divorce Ma Lianfa and made a huge fuss in the courtyard," Zhou Xiaoying explained. "It was also Sister Guihua who helped talk them down last time. I don't know why they're back again."
"Xiaoying, I don't think your mother-in-law is an easy person to deal with. Who knows what they want this time?" Tian Guihua said as she stood up. "By the way, where are the kids? Are they at home?"
"The kids are at home, but I told them to lock the door. From a distance, I saw them waiting outside," Zhou Xiaoying replied. "I didn't dare go over; I came here first." She felt a sense of dread thinking about her former mother-in-law, Ma Laotai.
