Hao Chunying was an impatient person; after just a couple of sentences, she pulled Uncle Ye aside.
"Aunt, come here. I need to ask you something," Hao Chunying said.
Seeing the look on Hao Chunying's face, Uncle Ye felt that something serious was going on. She followed Hao Chunying to a secluded spot. "Chunying, what's the matter? You look off."
Hao Chunying glanced around furtively before quietly asking Zhao Hongxiu, "Sister-in-law, what's going on with Fanghua's marriage? Is she being schemed against in the countryside? I've heard rumors."
Hao Chunying recounted what she had heard from Ye Fangfei to Zhao Hongxiu.
Zhao Hongxiu was astonished. "Really? Is there such a thing? No, I need to ask about this."
"Yes, we need to get to the bottom of it. If someone is plotting against her, we can't just let it go," she said as she joined Zhao Hongxiu in questioning Ye Fanghua.
At that moment, Ye Fanghua was inside talking to Ye Fangfei.
"Cousin, why did you suddenly get married? Why didn't you write to let us know before?" Ye Fangfei asked.
"Oh, Feifei, you don't know because you haven't been to the countryside. Life there is incredibly hard," Ye Fanghua replied.
"My hometown is a remote village in Qin City, Northern River Province. It's mountainous; although it produces a lot of chestnuts, it's really poor.
Everywhere you go is uphill; trees grow on the mountains, and even the fields are on slopes—what they call terraced fields.
Besides tending to the crops, we also have to go up the mountain for chestnuts. When there's nothing else to do, we still have to climb up to repair the terraces.
Honestly, I was busy from dawn till dusk all year round without any time to rest. There were times I cried from exhaustion; my hands and feet were covered in blisters.
To be honest, I really felt like I couldn't go on at times. I even thought about giving up entirely.
It was Da Li who quietly supported me all along."

This little one is already over two years old, and dragging him around isn’t feasible anymore." Ye Fanghua initially complained but then spoke about how good her husband was to her.
From her words, it was clear that she willingly married him without any coercion. With that understanding, Ye Fangfei refrained from saying more; marriage is a personal matter, much like drinking water—one knows best whether it is cold or warm.
They all thought it was inappropriate and worried that Ye Fanghua might be deceived. But if she was willing, what could anyone else say?
At that moment, Zhao Hongxiu and Hao Chunying came over. Zhao Hongxiu entered the room and, seeing Ye Fangfei there, hesitated for a moment before asking, "Fanghua, tell Mom the truth: did Zhao Dali threaten you into marrying him? Or did he save you when you fell into the water, and you married him out of fear for your reputation?"
Ye Fanghua was taken aback for a moment but quickly responded, "Mom, what are you talking about? Dali and I are in a free relationship. There’s nothing like what you’re suggesting."
