Ye Fangfei went to the convoy to inquire with her uncle, and it turned out that there had been heavy snowfall in Inner Mongolia. That was why there had been a delay. 0

Since it wasn’t an accident on the road, Ye Fangfei felt relieved. 0

Xiao Yue Liang had just finished her final exams and started her winter break yesterday. Now, there was no need to send Xiao Tai Yang to Aunt Zhao's house anymore; she let the siblings stay home by themselves. Without the need to pick up and drop off the kids, Ye Fangfei felt much more relaxed. 0

The day Tang Zhicheng returned happened to coincide with Ye Fangfei's vacation. The three of them were busy making dumplings. 0

Of course, only Ye Fangfei was doing the heavy lifting; Xiao Yue Liang helped roll out the dumpling wrappers, which was still a help. Xiao Tai Yang was just causing mischief. 0

“Oh, you three are making dumplings?” Tang Zhicheng walked in and saw the two little troublemakers. 0

“Daddy!” As soon as Xiao Yue Liang saw Tang Zhicheng enter, she immediately put down the rolling pin and ran over to hug his leg. 0

Xiao Tai Yang followed suit and hugged Tang Zhicheng’s other leg. 0

However, in the blink of an eye, both of Tang Zhicheng's pant legs were covered in flour. 0

“Hey.” Tang Zhicheng didn’t mind at all; he squatted down and embraced both children. 0

Ye Fangfei noticed that there were still flakes of snow on Tang Zhicheng’s clothes and realized it had started snowing again outside. She quickly pulled the two kids aside. “You two go play over there for a moment; let Daddy take off his coat and wash his hands before he comes to play with you.” 0

Tang Zhicheng released his hold on the kids and stood up, looking at Ye Fangfei. “Wife.” 0

Ye Fangfei nodded. “I heard there was heavy snow in Inner Mongolia. How was the journey? Did everything go smoothly?” 0

“It did snow heavily; the snow was up to my knees,” Tang Zhicheng replied. “For the first couple of days, we couldn’t even drive through; we waited there for two days before the soldiers cleared the snow off the road, which finally allowed us to return.” 0

“That much snow? That’s incredible,” Ye Fangfei said. “It’s snowing here too, but not heavily; it stopped before it even reached our ankles.” 0

Tang Zhicheng added, “But there’s a silver lining to that heavy snowfall. Since I had some free time those two days, I bought quite a bit of beef and lamb from my fellow villagers.” 0

“Were there no restrictions on buying there?” Ye Fangfei asked. 0

“There are some regulations, but since they are nomadic people living very scattered, you might not see a single household for miles. Even if they wanted to enforce rules, it would be difficult,” he explained. “I managed to find some herders and bought a cow and five sheep from them. I had them help me with the slaughter.” 0

I still ended up with less money than I intended; perhaps I should have brought back a bit more. Tang Zhicheng expressed a hint of regret. 0

"Really? You only spent seven hundred yuan and bought back a cow and five sheep? That's so cheap!" Ye Fangfei exclaimed in surprise. 0

Well, that’s the thing about pastoral areas—cattle and sheep are indeed inexpensive. A large cow weighing seven or eight hundred pounds costs just over a hundred yuan, and sheep are only sixty yuan each. 0

I spent less than six hundred yuan for the cow and five sheep, so I didn’t even use up all the seven hundred yuan I brought from home. Besides, I didn’t take the sheep skins or cow hides; I gave them to the herders. 0

The herders are honest people; they even gave me some beef jerky and milk tablets in return. 0

These milk tablets are a great treat, made from pure cow's milk by the herders themselves. I thought the kids would definitely love them, so I bought a few pounds to bring back. 0

The wool there is also cheap, so I picked up a few pounds to use for knitting sweaters. Additionally, I bought some wool blankets and felt as well. 0
