"What are you doing? Someone help! There's a pervert!" Ye Zijun shouted loudly.
As two small-time thugs were pulling Zhang Xiuxiang, they saw someone approaching and quickly let her go before fleeing.
Zhang Xiuxiang gasped for breath, collapsing onto the ground.
"Are you okay, miss? Do you want me to call the police?" Ye Zijun asked as he approached her.
Zhang Xiuxiang shook her head. "No, we can't call the police. If we do, it will only make things worse."
As a divorced woman, her reputation was already tarnished. Even if it wasn't her fault, others would still blame her.
"No need for that. Thank you for your help earlier," Zhang Xiuxiang said before getting up and leaving.
Ye Zijun had only wanted to help her, but since she was unwilling, he decided not to press further. He shrugged off the incident and walked away.
However, from that point on, whether by fate or coincidence, they encountered each other several more times. Gradually, they became familiar with one another and could exchange a few words.
Yet, their eventual relationship wasn't something they initiated themselves; it was through introductions from others. Zhang Xiuxiang's divorce had become a significant matter for the Zhang family, prompting everyone to rally together to find her a suitable partner.
Unfortunately, no suitable candidates emerged, leaving her parents distressed and worried.
It seemed that fate had a hand in bringing Ye Zijun and Zhang Xiuxiang together. One of Zhang Xiuxiang's father's coworkers noticed his distress over his daughter's situation and casually remarked, "Your daughter is divorced; Old Ye's son is also divorced. Why not have the two families become in-laws?"

He knew that Ye Jianguo's son had divorced a few years back but had never connected that fact with his own daughter until now. It suddenly seemed perfect: both their children were divorced.

Zhang Xiuxiang's father became concerned about the situation and started to inquire further. It turned out that Ye Jianguo's son had mentioned that, in order to prevent their child from feeling wronged, they had decided not to have children for the first ten years of their marriage. This made Zhang Xiuxiang's father even more inclined towards the idea.
When he returned home and discussed it with his family, they all agreed that the two were a good match. Zhang Xiuxiang's father then asked someone to reach out to Ye Jianguo. They didn't hide anything, including the fact that Zhang Xiuxiang was unable to have children, likely knowing it would be impossible to keep it a secret.
When Ye Jianguo shared this with Hao Chunying and Ye Zijun, Hao Chunying was definitely against it. She felt that having only one child, Tingting, was insufficient and insisted they should have another child so that Tingting would have a sibling for companionship in the future.
However, Ye Zijun held a different opinion. He was always worried that having another child would lead him to neglect Ye Ting, making her feel wronged. But it was unusual for a young woman getting married not to want children at all; that's why he had said he didn't want to have kids in the first ten years. Now that Zhang Xiuxiang couldn't have children, this concern was eliminated.
Moreover, because Zhang Xiuxiang couldn't bear children, she would surely treat Ye Ting well. For the sake of his daughter, Ye Zijun wanted to meet her at least once. As for Hao Chunying's argument that having only Ye Ting at home made her feel lonely, she pointed out that there were still Xiaoyueliang and Xiaotaiyang—who were cousins and could be just as close if they got along well.
In the end, Hao Chunying couldn't persuade Ye Zijun otherwise.
