"Thank you, Brother Xie. Come inside and rest for a bit before heading back," Tang Zhicheng said, unable to catch up with his parents and siblings, as he turned his attention to Xie Chunsheng.
"No, it’s getting late. My sister is still waiting for me at home, so I’ll head back now," Xie Chunsheng replied, turning his car around.
Tang Zhicheng pulled out two packs of cigarettes from his pocket and handed them through the car window. "Alright then, I won’t keep you, Brother Xie. When you have time, I’ll treat you to a drink."
Xie Chunsheng took the two packs of cigarettes, sniffed them with a smile, and said, "Sure thing! Come over to my place for a drink when you can. Just ask anyone in the family compound; they all know me."
With that, he drove off.
Watching Xie Chunsheng's car disappear into the distance, Tang Zhicheng finally turned back to his family. "Dad, Mom," he called out, then addressed his brothers Tang Zhiwen and Tang Zhiwu, "Eldest Brother, Second Brother, come help me with my luggage."
Tang Zhiwen stepped forward and placed a hand on Tang Zhicheng's shoulder. "You don’t need to worry about the luggage; let Daba and Erba take care of it."
He waved for his two sons to come over. "What are you two standing there for? Come help your uncle with his luggage!"
Daba and Erba shuffled over awkwardly and greeted him, "Uncle."
Only then did Tang Zhicheng notice how much his nephews had grown.
"Daba and Erba, you two are already this tall?" he remarked as he looked at them.
"Come on, help your uncle bring in his luggage," Grandma Tang instructed.
She then took Tang Zhicheng’s hand and said, "Third Son, come inside with me. Your eldest sister-in-law has already gotten the kang warmed up in your room."
As Grandma Tang pulled him along, he turned back to call out to Old Man Tang, "Dad, come inside."
"Alright, alright," Old Man Tang replied hurriedly, noticing that his elder son's eyes were red from emotion.
Tang Zhiwen and Tang Zhiwu followed closely behind Old Man Tang as they all entered the house.
Inside, Wang Zhaodi and Zhang Man were gathered around Ye Fangfei chatting.
"Sister-in-law, you’re finally back! It’s been six or seven years since you last came home, hasn’t it?" Wang Zhaodi exclaimed.
"Yes, I couldn’t get time off until recently," Ye Fangfei replied.
"This must be Little Moon; she’s grown so big! This is her first time back home," Zhang Man said as she pulled Little Moon closer.
Little Moon looked nervously back at Ye Fangfei as Zhang Man held her.
Ye Fangfei gently patted Little Moon's head and reassured her, "Don’t be afraid; this is your second aunt. Quickly greet her. And this is your first aunt."
Auntie, Auntie. Little Moon was obediently calling out to them.
Ah, no wonder she’s from the capital; she’s so different from the girls in our countryside. As soon as Wang Zhaodi spoke, she couldn't help but put others down.
Zhang Man's nose wrinkled in irritation upon hearing this, but looking at her three timid daughters, she had to admit that Wang Zhaodi was right.
Ah, Little Moon is really well-behaved. Come here, this is your eldest cousin, Daya; this is your second cousin, Erya; and this one is also your cousin, but she’s only four months older than you.
From now on, let them take you to play. Zhang Man forced a smile as she spoke.
Little Moon greeted each one: "Eldest Sister, Second Sister."
When it came to the third sister, however, Little Moon hesitated.
The truth was that Sanya was even shorter than Little Moon. She didn’t look like she was a few months older at all.
Zhang Man understood what Little Moon meant and chuckled: "Do you think Sanya doesn’t look like an older sister?"
Then just call her Sanya directly; after all, you two are about the same age.
Little Moon pursed her lips and softly called out: "Sanya."
Ye Fangfei and the two sisters-in-law all laughed. Daya and Erya joined in the laughter as well.
