Zhang Man was just jealous of her, wasn’t she? Well, let her be jealous then.
Inside the house, the dining table was already set with food.
“Third Brother, hurry up and come eat! We’ve specially made pork with sauerkraut for you. There’s also shredded potatoes stir-fried with meat, and this is the rib stew we made yesterday. Zhi said Feifei likes it, so we saved some for you,” Grandma Tang said, pointing at the dishes on the table.
Ye Fangfei saw the spread and knew that Grandma Tang and the others had put in a lot of effort.
“Thank you, Mom,” Ye Fangfei replied.
“Oh, there’s no need to be polite with me! By the way, I also steamed some egg custard for Little Sun. Where is he?” Grandma Tang asked when she didn’t see her grandson.
“That little guy fell asleep. He hasn’t had a good rest after sitting on the train for days. He didn’t even wait for dinner before dozing off,” Ye Fangfei explained.
“Let him sleep then; I’ll keep the egg custard warm in the pot. He can eat whenever he wakes up,” Grandma Tang said.
Over there, Tang Zhi had already placed Xiao Yue Liang on the bed. “Sweetheart, what do you want to eat? Daddy will get it for you.”
“I want shredded potatoes! And ribs!” Xiao Yue Liang said, looking at the dishes on the table.
“Alright, this piece of rib looks good; I’ll get it for you.” Tang Zhi found a meaty piece in the bowl and placed it into Xiao Yue Liang’s bowl.
He then took a piece of rib for himself and noticed Ye Fangfei was still talking to Grandma Tang, so he quickly pulled Ye Fangfei down to sit. “Wife, let’s talk later; let’s eat first.”
As soon as Grandma Tang heard this, she quickly chimed in, “Yes, yes! Let’s eat first. After we finish eating, we can chat.”
Ye Fangfei smiled and picked up her chopsticks.
Tang Zhi hurriedly served her a piece of rib. “Wife, eat some ribs! Aren’t you always saying how much you love them? Mom’s ribs are delicious; you should have more.”
Ye Fangfei nodded and began to eat the ribs.
Grandma Tang and the others watched as Tang Zhi either served his daughter or helped his wife with her food.
This meal made it clear to the Tang family just how important Ye Fangfei was to Tang Zhi.
It all came down to this: a husband’s attitude toward his wife determined how his family treated her.
After finishing the meal, the Tang family became even more courteous toward Ye Fangfei.
Even when Ye Fangfei wanted to help clear the dishes, Wang Zhao Di stopped her. “Third Sister-in-law, you rest; I’ll handle it with Second Brother’s family.”
After saying that, she called out to outside, “Second Brother’s family, come out and wash the dishes!”
Wang Zhao Di wasn’t foolish; she knew that if Second Brother's wife wanted to slack off, she would have to see if she agreed or not.
Zhang Man was sulking in her room, feeling frustrated. She hadn’t expected that her casual remarks would provoke such a strong reaction from the third family. Not only did they retaliate, but her mother-in-law and husband also sided with Ye Fangfei, speaking against her.
Zhang Man felt a twinge of regret. She had originally planned to maintain a good relationship with the third family's daughter-in-law. After all, Ye Fangfei was successful at work and came from a well-off family. Building a good rapport with her would surely bring some benefits, given Ye Fangfei's generous nature.
Why had she let her emotions get the better of her and said those things? Now it was too late to take back her words, and she had to think about how to remedy the situation.
Just then, she heard Wang Zhaodi calling for her from outside. Zhang Man initially considered pretending not to hear and avoiding going out. However, she quickly realized that the dishes were ones used by Ye Fangfei and her family. If she didn’t go out, Ye Fangfei would likely hold it against her even more.
How could she hope to mend their relationship if she didn’t make an effort? With that thought in mind, she reluctantly agreed and stepped outside.
