"Son, it's time for bed." Tang Zhicheng quickly undressed Little Sun and tucked him into the blankets.
Children are prone to sleep, and although Little Sun had already napped for a while in the afternoon, he quickly fell asleep again with his father patting him gently.
Seeing that his son was sound asleep, Tang Zhicheng adjusted his position slightly to make him more comfortable. He tucked in the corners of the blanket one last time before turning to Ye Fangfei and said, "Dear, the kids are asleep now; we should get some rest too."
Ye Fangfei, an old wife accustomed to her husband, wasn't shy at all. She looked at him playfully and said, "Aren't you tired after sitting on the train for days? Why don't we rest today and wait until tomorrow?"
Before Ye Fangfei could finish her sentence, Tang Zhicheng leaned in and pressed his lips against hers. All she heard was a simple, "Not tired," and then her mind was too occupied to think of anything else.
That night passed without dreams. The next morning, when Ye Fangfei woke up, the sun was already shining brightly.
Tang Zhicheng and the two children were nowhere to be found in the room. It seemed that he had taken them out.
Ye Fangfei rubbed her lower back and cursed Tang Zhicheng under her breath for being a beast. She recalled how she had pleaded last night, but he insisted she admit she was wrong for mentioning divorce so easily. Even when she complied with his demands, that stubborn man didn't let her off easily; he had insisted on being intimate with her for half the night.
Although she had also enjoyed it, thinking about how he disregarded her pleas made her feel frustrated.
After lying down for a while longer, Ye Fangfei finally sat up to get dressed. Once she was dressed and had folded the bedding neatly to one side, she was about to get up to wash her face when Tang Zhicheng walked in.
Seeing that Ye Fangfei was already awake, he smiled and approached her with a playful grin. "Dear, you're up! I'll go get some water for you to wash up."
Without waiting for her response, he hurriedly grabbed a basin and filled it with hot water from the kettle, mixing in a bit of cold water. After checking the temperature with his hand and finding it just right, he brought it over to Ye Fangfei. "Dear, you wash up first; I'll go bring in breakfast."
Watching Tang Zhicheng bustle around like a diligent little bee made any lingering anger in Ye Fangfei dissipate. Besides, she realized she wasn't truly angry; it was just that he spoiled her a bit too much, making her feel somewhat pretentious.
"Have you all eaten? What about Little Moon and Little Sun?" Ye Fangfei asked as she washed her face.
"We've all finished eating. Your portion is set aside in the pot to keep warm," Tang Zhicheng replied smoothly. "Little Moon went out to play with Da Ya and Er Ya. Little Sun is in your mother's room with her."
Knowing that the children were being taken care of, Ye Fangfei felt at ease.
Tang Zhicheng brought the food into Ye Fangfei. Breakfast was simple: coarse millet porridge and steamed buns. Grandma Tang had even boiled an egg. This was quite a treat, as she had only boiled four eggs today. Ye Fangfei and the little ones, Xiao Yueying and Xiao Taiyang, each got one, while Tang Zhicheng gave his to the youngest, San Ya.
This was only possible because Tang Zhicheng and the others were visiting; usually, Grandma Tang saved the eggs to trade for salt at the supply and marketing cooperative.
After finishing her meal, Ye Fangfei watched as Tang Zhicheng took the bowls and chopsticks out to wash them. He then returned to the room to keep her company. However, it wasn't long before Tang Zhijing came over.
