When she arrived today, she boasted that San Ni would stay here with her uncle to build a relationship. However, Tang Zhi Cheng not only refused to take care of San Ni but also had a falling out with her. Now, Tang Zhi Jing felt utterly hopeless. She began to regret not keeping her mouth shut, which had offended Ye Fang Fei, and now she didn’t even know how to explain herself.
Old Lady Tang was unaware that Tang Zhi Jing was burdened with so many thoughts. After such a commotion during the festival, Old Lady Tang felt exhausted. She waved her hand at Tang Zhi Jing and said, “You can go now; I won’t keep you for dinner.”
Seeing that their mother-in-law had said this, Wang Zhao Di and Zhang Man naturally wouldn’t try to persuade her to stay either. They chimed in, “Sister-in-law, take your time on the way back,” before turning back into the house.
This left Tang Zhi Jing standing there in regret. But no matter how much she lamented, her mother had already told her to leave. The earlier argument had frightened Da Ni and Er Ni so much that they didn’t dare make a sound and shrank into a corner. San Ni, who had been awakened by the noise, was held tightly in her elder sister’s arms.
Tang Zhi Jing was already feeling angry, and seeing Da Ni and Er Ni huddled together like quails only fueled her frustration further. “What are you still doing over there? Come home already! You’re really useless!” she scolded. “What have I gained from raising you? All you do is bring me shame; you’re of no help at all! Why are you still hiding there? Hurry up before someone else chases you away!”
Da Ni and the others were clearly used to being scolded by Tang Zhi Jing. Da Ni didn’t respond but silently wrapped San Ni in a blanket and quietly carried her out the door. Er Ni closely followed her sister’s lead and walked out behind Da Ni.
Old Lady Tang also came out from the inner room, holding a cloth bag containing a box of pastries and a can. These items were brought by Tang Zhi Cheng. No matter what happened, she was still his biological daughter.
Old Lady Tang felt both angry and heartbroken. She thought about giving her something to help bolster her confidence. “Here, this is what the third one brought from the capital; take it with you. Don’t blame him either; today’s incident was indeed your fault.”
As for letting San Ni be taken care of by Lao San, let's not talk about that anymore.
However, don't be timid when you go; if they bully you, just come to me. Our family isn't without support. I'll make sure they back you up when the time comes.
Tang Laotai handed the cloth bag to Tang Zhijing. Although Tang Zhijing was angry, she couldn't refuse something that was handed to her. However, it was impossible to expect her to say she would listen.
"Zhi Liao, our San Ni is unfortunate; she doesn't have the fate to live a good life. I won't bring it up again," Tang Zhijing said in frustration as she mumbled and walked away.
Watching her daughter walk off, Tang Laotai sighed and went into the house. After the commotion, she felt exhausted and lay down as soon as she entered.
She never expected things would develop to this point. In her heart, she also blamed Ye Fangfei for being so unreasonable; if it weren't for her, Lao San wouldn't have treated his sister that way.
The bond between the siblings used to be so strong, and Lao San still cared about his sister. Every time he visited, he would buy something extra for her. Now, just because Tang Zhijing said a few wrong words, he was heartlessly cutting ties with her.
The more Tang Laotai thought about it, the sadder she became, and resentment toward Ye Fangfei began to grow in her heart.
