Tang Zhiwu, who was walking ahead, turned his head to look over.
Ye Fangfei noticed Tang Zhiwu's gaze and tugged at Tang Zhicheng to remind him to tone it down a bit.
"Of course it's true," she said affirmatively. "Ask Mom and Dad; if they are willing, they can come stay with us for a while."
Tang Zhicheng was deeply moved; he always knew his wife was the best.
"Wife, you’re truly wonderful. Thank you," he expressed his gratitude with heartfelt sincerity.
Being thanked like this by her husband stirred something in Ye Fangfei's heart.
While she didn't particularly want her in-laws to move in with them, she understood that as their son, Tang Zhicheng could not completely ignore them.
So even if it meant making some concessions for Tang Zhicheng's sake, she would have to accommodate them.
She could allow the elderly couple to stay for a while, considering it a gesture for her husband.
However, she also had her boundaries; her bottom line was that Tang Zhicheng could manage his parents, as it was the responsibility of children.
But if the old couple expected them to support their other children or wanted to take advantage of them, that would be out of the question.
Yet, she knew better than to voice such thoughts now, especially with Tang Zhiwu still present.
Still, she believed that Tang Zhicheng would understand the limits without needing her to say anything.
With his wife's promise, Tang Zhicheng's mood visibly brightened.
Upon arriving at the station, the family got off the ox cart, and Tang Zhiwu helped unload their bundles.
"Brother, you take care on your way," Tang Zhicheng said to Tang Zhiwu.
"Should I help you get Li onto the cart before I leave?" Tang Zhiwu offered.
"No need; I can manage it myself. You go ahead," Tang Zhicheng replied. "The sky looks overcast again; it might snow soon."
"If it starts snowing, the roads will be even worse. You should go first," he added.
Tang Zhiwu glanced at the darkening sky and nodded in agreement.
"Alright then, I’ll head off first. Keep an eye on the kids in the cart; don’t let them run around," he instructed before turning the cart around and leaving.
Watching Tang Zhiwu drive away, Tang Zhicheng held Li with one hand and took hold of Little Moon with the other.
"Wife, let’s go; we need to get on the cart," he said to Ye Fangfei.
"Alright, let's go." Ye Fangfei hugged the little sun and followed his footsteps.
This time, they had booked a sleeper cabin. Their station was small, and there were very few passengers boarding the train. They found their compartment, which was empty of other travelers.
This was quite convenient for them.
Tang Zhicheng first placed Li under the bed, then took out the thermos. "Wife, I'll go get some hot water. You keep an eye on the two of them."
"Go ahead," Ye Fangfei replied, placing the little sun on the bed and taking off his shoes.
Tang Zhicheng quickly returned with hot water. Ye Fangfei poured some into a cup and let the two children each take a few sips before she drank some herself.
Outside, it was freezing cold. Although there was heating on the train, it wasn't very warm, so having some hot water helped to warm them up.
After finishing her drink, Ye Fangfei handed the cup to Tang Zhicheng. "You should have a few sips too, to warm up."
Tang Zhicheng took the cup and drank a few sips before saying, "Wife, I saw that there are vendors outside selling red sausages. Should I go buy some?"
"Really? I didn't notice. Go ahead! If they don't require tickets, buy a bit more," she encouraged. "Red sausages can be stored for a while."
After saying this, Ye Fangfei took out fifty yuan and handed it to him.
Tang Zhicheng took the money and left, returning ten minutes later with ten pounds of red sausages.
