It is said that people's understanding of monsters often comes from the tales told by the older generation. The ghost stories recounted by them are not only captivating and engaging, but even the characters and locations within these stories seem as real as life itself. 0

In the 1960s, a peculiar incident involving a monster occurred at Weishan Lake in Shandong. During that time, local fishermen were troubled by a lack of fish, and some even claimed to hear terrifying cries from the depths of the lake that sent shivers down their spines. 0

Only one young man, nicknamed "Li Dadan," was unafraid and continued to fish. To him, nothing was more frightening than going hungry. That day, luck seemed to be on his side; when he cast his net, it felt heavy. However, when he pulled it up, he was stunned to find a dark, humanoid creature caught in it. 0

The creature was clawing and thrashing about, its body covered in rotting flesh, resembling the man-eating monsters of legend. Fortunately for Li Dadan, he had taken precautions by soaking his fishing net in black dog blood beforehand. The monster appeared to be extremely afraid of the dog blood; once trapped, it could only howl helplessly without any strength to fight back. 0

True to his nickname, Li Dadan was bold enough to bundle up the monster and bring it back to the village for all to see. He thought to himself that this creature must have scared away all the fish and shrimp from the lake. 0

At first, the villagers were terrified, but upon learning that this monster had disrupted their livelihood, they became furious. If it weren't for the creature's terrifying appearance, they would have rushed forward to beat it up. Without hesitation, Li Dadan drew out a small knife and prepared to strike. 0

"Li Ping," an elder of great respect in the village urgently cautioned him, "you must think twice! This is no ordinary beast; you can't just kill it on a whim!" 0

"Old man, you're right. But if you let me go, I swear by the name of the monster that I won't harm you," the creature suddenly pleaded with a chilling voice. 0

However, Li Dadan showed no mercy towards its desperate pleas; instead, he was determined to torture it to death. The monster shouted in anger, "A warrior may be killed but not humiliated! If you're going to kill me, at least make it quick!" 0

Perhaps due to its fierce temperament, Li Dadan only made a small cut on its arm. To his surprise, the creature fell silent as if it had been killed by rage itself. He casually tossed its body into a ravine, thinking that eliminating the monster would allow him to live peacefully. Little did he know that disaster was just beginning. 0

During that time, whether day or night, villagers could hear the monster's wails echoing in their ears as it died. Moreover, all the children in the village inexplicably developed horrific sores on their arms that matched exactly where the monster had been injured. 0

In comparison, Li Dadan's son—who was not yet three years old—had an even stranger condition; not only did he have sores on his arms, but his cries were also sharp and piercing, sounding eerily similar to those of the monster. 0

Despite being carefree and easygoing, Li Dadan was particularly concerned about his son. For his sake, he had to muster the courage to seek out the old man who had once advised him to show mercy, in order to discuss a strategy together. 0

"Do you think you're Sun Wukong? Monsters are not something a mere mortal like you can easily kill. Do you realize that the enemy can simply change their guise and make your life a living hell? The only solution now is to repay blood with blood, to eliminate its resentment; perhaps then we can achieve peace," the old man said, frowning and looking grave. 0

Li Dadan believed the old man's words wholeheartedly. When he arrived at the ravine, he found that the monster's corpse had already turned into a skeleton. He took out the dagger that had wounded the monster and, steeling himself, pierced his own palm, letting his blood drip onto the skeleton drop by drop for seven days straight. 0

After seven days, something unexpected happened: a bright red flower sprouted from the eye socket of the skeleton. 0

The flower was oddly shaped and emitted a foul odor, appearing quite eerie. Following the old man's guidance, Li Dadan carefully plucked the flower and brewed it into a medicinal soup. Strangely enough, every child in the village who drank this soup gradually healed from their festering sores and returned to health. 0

In gratitude for the monster's lack of vengeance, the villagers built a Temple of Monsters at the site of its demise. 0

Although the story told by the village elders sounded far-fetched, the nameless clay statue enshrined in that small temple at the village entrance indeed looked more terrifying than any ghost! 0
