Gu Qingning understood that Madam Gu was deliberately scolding Gu Yan without acknowledging her presence. The old matriarch was simply unwilling to let her granddaughter go so easily. Gu Qingning obediently stayed aside, half-listening as Madam Gu lectured her granddaughter.
The entire Songhe Courtyard was filled with the sound of sobbing, which only served to irritate Madam Gu further, leaving her feeling weary.
"Enough! We will discuss this later. I am tired; you all may leave now," Madam Gu waved her hand dismissively. Then she turned to Kuo Ruofeng and added, "And you should stop this incessant crying; it’s quite unbecoming!"
With Gu Changqing training soldiers in the military camp and Gu Siyuan summoned to the palace without returning home yet, she truly had no energy left to deal with these younger generations' matters.
