In the Grand Banquet Palace, the imperial study was unusually quiet.
Seated in the prominent chair was Emperor Jing, clad in a dragon robe that exuded an innate regal aura, instilling fear in everyone present. Beside him was the favored Consort An, her eyes like autumn waters, her beauty striking. She wore a deep green rose-patterned gown that radiated elegance and dignity.
Gu Siyuan, summoned by the emperor’s decree, stood to the side with his head bowed, unaware of what had transpired.
At the emperor's lower right sat the Long Princess, her pallor intensified by anxiety as she sat gracefully on a rosewood chair, waiting.
"Since you have already consummated your marriage, let us welcome Miss Gu into our household," Emperor Jing broke the silence, his sharp gaze fixed on Pei Zhirui, who knelt below.

"This matter is settled," Emperor Jing said irritably, silencing any further comments with a cold tone.
Consort An swallowed her words and silently observed Pei Zhirui kneeling below.
"Regarding the incident at the birthday banquet for Princess Pingning, I will compensate her appropriately," Emperor Jing continued, recalling that it was indeed Princess Pingning's birthday celebration.
The Long Princess had come to court seemingly for matters concerning the Second Prince and Gu Yanran but was truly there for the Duke of Qi's household.
"Enough. You may all leave," he said after a moment of thought, looking at Pei Zhirui who struggled to stand. "Reflect on your actions during your three months at home."
Pei Zhirui's expression darkened; it was clear that Emperor Jing intended to confine him.
The others silently exited the imperial study.
Before leaving, the Long Princess paused briefly to contemplate before stepping out and heading towards her carriage bound for the Duke of Qi's residence.
Gu Siyuan scurried back home like a frightened mouse, his back drenched in cold sweat.
Consort An harbored disdain for Gu Yanran; this only intensified her dislike for the woman. She suddenly felt that Gu Yanran was unworthy of her son and that even being a secondary consort was too generous for her.
Upon arriving at Yaohua Palace, Consort An stood before the Tenth Princess, fury boiling within her. She raised her hand and struck the princess across the face with a swift slap.
The blow came too quickly for the Tenth Princess to evade; she felt a sharp sting on her cheek and instinctively covered it with her hand, timidly glancing up at Consort An.
