Wu Xin sent another voice message, "Sigh... Although they both look very happy together, I can't help but feel they're not quite a match. I imagine his wife must feel a lot of pressure being by his side. But thankfully, she has achieved her own success now, so I’m sure many people support them. Still, love doesn’t really need anyone else’s approval, right?"
Rao Jie didn’t pay much attention to the latter part of Wu Xin's message. Her mind was completely absorbed in the earlier words. She couldn’t help but wonder if people would think the same way about her and Wu Rong if they were together—perhaps some would share Wu Xin's polite perspective, while others might be more blunt...
Rao Jie became somewhat absent-minded, not even noticing when Wu Rong came in. She remained sprawled on the bed, holding her phone and staring into space.
When Wu Rong saw that she was unresponsive, he felt a twinge of annoyance and leaned over to see what had captured Rao Jie’s attention. The moment he caught sight of the photos on her screen, the jealousy he had been suppressing all day erupted.
What was so special about that pastry chef? Did she really need to admire so many pictures? Was she so lost in them that she didn’t even notice her boyfriend waiting right beside her?
Wu Rong’s face darkened as he watched Rao Jie for a long moment without any reaction from her. His anger boiled over; he slowly loosened his robe and rolled over to pin Rao Jie down.
The force from behind caused her wrist to bend awkwardly, and the phone slipped from her grasp, landing on the pillow.
"Ugh!" Rao Jie felt a weight on her chest and finally reacted, turning to look at him. "What are you doing?"
Wu Rong squinted at her, clearly displeased, as if to say he was not happy at all. He pushed himself up slightly, one hand propping himself up while the other reached down.
"What do you think you’re doing? Looking at other men’s photos right in front of me? Do you think I’m invisible?" Wu Rong's words dripped with jealousy.
Rao Jie quickly realized that Wu Rong had misunderstood the situation and couldn’t help but laugh at how possessive he was—truly a narrow-minded man. Before she could explain herself, Wu Rong’s next series of movements made her body go weak with realization about his intentions. Did he really think he could never let her have a moment's peace? She had an early flight tomorrow; couldn’t he just let her rest?
Irritated, Rao Jie said, "I was chatting with Wu Xin!" Just then, her phone vibrated again—another voice message from Wu Xin.
Rao Jie shot Wu Rong a glare, gesturing for him to look at her phone to prove she wasn’t lying.
But Wu Rong was already set on his course of action; he paid no mind to her explanations and lowered his head to bite down gently on Rao Jie’s slender neck, pushing her into the pillow as he vented his jealousy.
It wasn’t until late into the night that Wu Rong finally replied to Wu Xin’s message.
Wu Rong: "Are you there?"
Wu Xin: "????? Brother, why are you still awake at this hour? You can't be... Brother, can't you act like a decent person? You have a flight to catch tomorrow! I feel for Jie Jie!"
Wu Rong: "…Don’t chat with your sister-in-law late at night anymore, and don’t send her pictures of random men. Do you want her to be taken away by someone else?"
Wu Xin: "I haven’t! I’ve already claimed this sister-in-law for myself. Anyone who tries to take her from me will face my wrath. But… hehehe, big brother, I didn’t know you were so insecure. You’re worried about just any man?"
Wu Rong: "What do you know!"
After that, no matter what Wu Xin sent, Wu Rong did not respond.
