Rao Jie couldn't help but doubt whether she had interfered with Wu Rong's research after what Nina said. Ever since their relationship changed, it seemed like Wu Rong had been spending much less time on his studies.
Feeling a bit disheartened, Rao Jie kept loosening her grip on Wu Rong's hand. Just as her hand was about to slip away, Wu Rong suddenly grasped her hand firmly and lifted it up, as if to prove something.
"If I'm a distraction, then I'm more than willing to trade my research for this distraction. Maybe I'm just a fool blinded by love," he declared.
Nina was taken aback, and Rao Jie looked up at Wu Rong in astonishment. The other staff members, eager to join in, applauded Wu Rong's declaration of love. They had previously thought that Rao Jie’s boyfriend lacked emotional intelligence and was difficult to deal with. Little did they know he was a prince of sweet nothings! Regardless of whether his words were true or not, they deserved full marks!
What they didn’t realize was that Wu Rong wasn’t good at sweet talk; he only expressed his genuine feelings. Once he spoke his mind, he never regretted it. Those were his heartfelt words.
Rao Jie felt deeply moved and tightened her grip on his large hand. Wu Rong glanced at her with the same familiar impatience and asked, "When do we get off work?"
The enthusiastic store manager, bursting with excitement, shouted, "It's time to clock out! Time to go home!"
Before Rao Jie could fully process what was happening, Wu Rong said, "Grab your things; we’re going home."
Still dazed, Rao Jie nodded. The staff quickly helped her gather her belongings, and before long, Wu Rong was pulling her out the door.
Nina snapped back to reality and hurriedly called out, "Wu Rong, don’t go! You have to come back to England with me. I’m doing this for your own good! If you don’t listen to me, you’ll definitely regret it!"
Wu Rong acted as if he hadn’t heard her and continued to lead Rao Jie away without looking back.
In the car, Rao Jie kept smiling foolishly. Unable to resist, Wu Rong reached over and ruffled her hair. "Are you really that happy?" he asked.
Rao Jie turned to look at the tall man beside her and replied, "I didn’t realize I meant so much to you."
Wu Rong raised an eyebrow. "I’m surprised. Did it take you this long to figure it out? It’s so obvious! Shouldn’t you have known when we decided to be together? I’m not an impulsive person; I know what I’m doing and what I want from you."
Rao Jie was taken aback, a bit confused as she asked, "What do you mean?" At that moment, the car had just stopped in front of her house.
Wu Rong leaned closer and said, "I want your whole life. If I have to give something in return, what's wrong with that? Is it not allowed?"
Rao Jie felt her heart racing; she couldn't help but push Wu Rong's handsome face away a little, saying, "Stop flirting with me."
"Who’s flirting? I'm just speaking the truth. If you're not moved, do you have to deny me?"
Rao Jie found herself at a loss for words. In a moment of impulse, she leaned in and gave him a quick kiss before hastily getting out of the car to cool down her flushed cheeks.
But Wu Rong wasn't going to let it end there. When it came to flirting, it was clearly Rao Jie who had initiated it. He had intended to wait until after dinner to continue their conversation.
Wu Rong quickly caught up with her and cornered Rao Jie at the door. Before she could say anything, he eagerly kissed her.
Rao Jie pushed him away slightly, saying, "Someone might see us at the door..."
Wu Rong replied with dissatisfaction, "We're a couple; what's wrong with being open about it?" After saying that, he pressed his forehead against hers while reaching behind her to enter the password. In a low voice, he added, "It's been three days; no excuses!"
