"Easy now, sweetheart. Just relax."
His words dripped with endless temptation and soothing comfort.
"Slowly," he continued to whisper gently, guiding her, trying to help Chi Mu Jiu unwind and savor the moment. The haze of intoxication and the longing of desire enveloped her in an unparalleled bliss. Her consciousness blurred under the influence of alcohol, yet her body instinctively responded to the pleasure.
However, when Chi Mu Jiu sensed that the man intended to take things further, she instinctively furrowed her brow. In that instant, a flicker of hesitation and unease crossed her mind.
He keenly caught the subtle shift in her expression, his movements halting abruptly. With a hint of surprise and uncertainty, he softly asked, "Sweetheart, is this your first time?"
Chi Mu Jiu bit her lip and gave a faint nod.
It seemed that Du Heng Yan realized something immediately; he quickly rose and wrapped her in his embrace. He was unsure if his actions had frightened her.
"Easy now. Sweetheart, just sleep well. We can talk about everything tomorrow."
Du Heng Yan placed a gentle kiss on her forehead. Despite the flames of desire still burning within him, he knew he couldn't act impulsively at that moment.
Chi Mu Jiu finally settled down.
Du Heng Yan tucked the blanket around her, his movements tender as if handling a rare treasure. Afterward, he stood by the bed with his hands on his hips, taking deep breaths in an effort to calm his rapid heartbeat and restless mind. His chest rose and fell violently, beads of sweat forming on his forehead.
He had thought that perhaps his actions had been too bold for her to react so strongly, but he hadn’t anticipated that it was indeed her first time.
A mix of emotions swirled within Du Heng Yan—he felt both protective towards her and regretful for his earlier impulsiveness.
As he gazed at the now-sleeping Chi Mu Jiu, his eyes reflected a complex array of feelings: unfulfilled desire, tenderness towards her, and a barely perceptible depth of affection.
Du Heng Yan understood that refraining from taking further action was indeed the right choice.
At least not while she was drunk.
With that thought, Du Hengyan turned and walked into the bathroom, splashing cold water over himself to wash away the heat and the chaotic thoughts swirling in his mind.
When he emerged from the bathroom, he noticed that the little figure on the bed had woken up at some point. She blinked her dazed eyes, her expression a mix of confusion and vulnerability.
As she saw him stepping out of the bathroom, she paused, preparing to get out of bed.
"Where are you going? Are you feeling unwell?"
Du Hengyan wiped his damp hair with a towel as he strode toward her. Concern shone in his eyes because he knew she was still not sober. The nearly empty bottle of strong liquor on the table was a testament to just how drunk she had been.
"I came to find you."
She looked up at him with a childlike sense of grievance, reaching out her arms for a hug.
"I'm wet from the shower. Let me dry off first. You lie down and get some sleep; I’ll be right there, okay?"
After confirming that she showed no signs of discomfort, Du Hengyan felt a bit more at ease.
"You won't leave me, will you?"
Her eyes were filled with anxiety and dependence, evoking deep sympathy in him.
"I won’t."
He gave her a reassuring look. Hearing his promise, she softly replied and obediently lay back down, though her gaze remained fixed on him as if afraid he might disappear.
Seeing her in such an endearing state filled his heart with tenderness and sorrow. He hardly cared about whether his hair was dry or not; he tossed the towel aside and quickly climbed into bed, wrapping his arms around her gently yet firmly, as if he wanted to merge her into himself and provide her with the warmest protection.
"I'm here now; you can sleep, my dear."
His voice was low and gentle, like a soothing melody carried by the night breeze, softly resonating in her ears.
"Goodnight."
She responded softly, nuzzling closer into his embrace, finding the most comfortable position before peacefully closing her eyes.
"Good night."
As Du Hengyan felt her breathing gradually steady, his own restless heart slowly began to calm. The room was filled with a warm and tranquil atmosphere, and he had never imagined that this moment would bring him such an unprecedented sense of security and grounding.
