Du Hengyan was not going to let this go easily.
Zhi Mu Jiu, on the other hand, had already made her escape.
As Du Hengyan stirred from his slumber, still half-asleep, he instinctively reached out to the side, only to find a lingering warmth where she had been. He opened his eyes and glanced around, realizing that there was no one beside him.
When it dawned on him that the woman had fled, a fire ignited in his deep-set eyes. He quickly sat up in bed, his sharp gaze scanning the room in search of her figure, but to no avail.
With an irritated snort, he thought to himself, "So she just runs off after sleeping with me?"
He threw off the covers and prepared to get out of bed when something caught his eye—a glaring splash of red on the pristine white sheets.
Confusion filled his mind as he furrowed his brow. He hadn’t touched her again last night; how could there be blood? Did that woman get her period?
The thought flashed through his mind as he immediately grabbed his phone from the bedside table and dialed without hesitation.
“Find out where that woman from yesterday went.” His voice was as cold as ice.
Meanwhile, in Du Hengyan's office, Ye Qi noticed that his boss hadn’t shown up for work. Remembering what had happened the day before, curiosity bubbled within him, and he couldn’t help but ask, “Uh, boss… you didn’t come home last night?”
Du Hengyan had no patience for idle chatter. He snapped angrily, “That woman ran off! Hurry up and find out where she is—make it quick!”
Ye Qi was taken aback by the sudden fury of his boss and instantly understood what he meant. That woman had slept with his boss and then bolted?!
Before he could respond, the line went dead with a series of beeps indicating a busy signal.
Du Hengyan felt a tightness in his chest, frustrated by this little woman’s actions. The situation here had been precarious for days, yet she chose this moment to slip away without a word.
He wouldn't eat her, but she nearly devoured him instead. Du Hengyan had always been a light sleeper; even the slightest noise could wake him. However, last night, for some unknown reason, he slept exceptionally well, completely unaware of when the person beside him had left.
The more he thought about it, the angrier he became. His fists clenched tightly, wishing he could drag that reckless woman back and interrogate her thoroughly. Ideally, he'd toss her to the wolves!
Du Hengyan roared in frustration, his previously good mood evaporating without a trace, replaced by a dark scowl and simmering anger. After a moment, Ye Qi's call came through.
"Boss, the brothers nearby said that lady went to an underground casino."
Du Hengyan clicked his tongue irritably, his brows knitting into a deep frown. Where was she running off to now? What a so-called Eastern beauty—just a pretty face! She was even wilder than he was! He thought bitterly.
Which casino? Is it one of ours?
He forced down his fury and asked.
"No, it's that one owned by Fei Si," Ye Qi replied cautiously.
Upon hearing this, Du Hengyan's anger flared even more. He had countless underground businesses in his territory, with no fewer than a hundred casinos. This woman really knew how to pick her spots—she had chosen a local's territory.
He couldn't decide whether to call it good luck or bad luck for her. With a cold snort, he commanded, "Bring the brothers along; let's catch her."
"Understood, Boss. The two Chinese from yesterday have already been interrogated; they were tailing that lady." Ye Qi continued reporting. "Miss Chi is the eldest daughter of the Chi family, and these two were sent by the second daughter to follow her. Boss, it seems this situation is a bit complicated. They also mentioned the banquet of the Ye family back home."
