Just as she was lost in thought, the door to the room was gently pushed open.
Du Hengyan walked in, carrying two breakfast trays. The moment he saw her sitting silently on the bed, he realized that this little raccoon was upset. He placed the breakfast on the table and spoke softly to explain, "The restaurant is a bit far from here, so I picked out some of your favorite breakfast items."
Upon hearing his words, Chi Mu Jiu felt her anger dissipate significantly. It seemed she had wrongly accused someone.
To avoid drawing attention from others, after a simple meal, Chi Mu Jiu and Du Hengyan disembarked from the luxury yacht. It was still early, so they weren't worried about running into acquaintances.
After getting off the boat, they headed straight for the parking area where the driver was waiting in the car. Once inside, the vehicle sped smoothly toward the Central Hospital.
Chi Mu Jiu knew that after what happened last time, her stepmother Ji Yuyan would undoubtedly make a big fuss and wouldn’t let her father leave the hospital anytime soon. After all, in Ji Yuyan's world, anything could be used to gain attention and serve her interests.
Chi Mu Jiu narrowed her eyes slightly, calculating in her mind. If she wanted to resolve the issues with the Chi family quickly, she had to meet her father Chi Feng in the hospital. Only by communicating face-to-face could she find a solution to their problems. Moreover, it would be a good opportunity to annoy that dramatic stepmother of hers.
In the luxurious ward of Central Hospital, the smell of disinfectant lingered in the air, making one's mood feel heavy.
"Old man, today I want to eat seafood," Ji Yuyan's slightly sharp voice reached Chi Mu Jiu's ears as she approached the doorway.
There was a hint of coquetry and petulance in that voice that made one frown involuntarily.
Sure enough, it was just empty complaints.
Chi Mu Jiu rolled her eyes and strode into the ward. Inside, Ji Yuyan lay on the hospital bed with a rosy complexion, flanked by three nurses while Chi Feng personally attended to her.
Upon seeing Chi Mu Jiu and Du Hengyan enter, Ji Yuyan's face immediately twisted with disgust.
"What are you doing here?! You white-eyed wolf!"
She glared at Du Hengyan behind Chi Mujiu, her anger barely contained. Chi Mujiu met Ji Yuyan's gaze fearlessly, a cold smile playing at the corners of her lips.
"I came uninvited to see if you are still in good health."
"You!" Ji Yuyan was so infuriated by Chi Mujiu's words that she couldn't find her voice.
"Master, look at her," Ji Yuyan shook her companion, Chi Feng, hoping he would stand up for her.
Chi Feng frowned tightly and shook off Ji Yuyan's hand. When he couldn't rid himself of her, he sighed heavily and said, "Enough, this is a hospital. Let's not make a scene; do you want to embarrass yourselves even more?"
"I'm not here to visit her; I'm here to find you." Chi Mujiu's gaze shifted from Ji Yuyan to Chi Feng.
As for whether she was sick or not, that was her own doing; she brought this upon herself. After all the days you've cared for her in the hospital, you probably know better than the doctors whether she is ill or not. Chi Mujiu's words dripped with sarcasm.
Listening to her, Du Hengyan felt a wave of satisfaction. This little one truly spared no one with her sharp tongue. He quietly stood behind her, watching the standoff between Chi Mujiu, Ji Yuyan, and Chi Feng.
Chi Feng glanced at Ji Yuyan, signaling her to stay out of it. "What do you want from me?"
There was a hint of anticipation in his tone; he thought Chi Mujiu had come to terms and was willing to consider a marriage alliance with the Su family.
"I've said I won't marry for your career's sake, but I have something even better." Chi Mujiu's eyes were resolute and confident.
"What is it?" A flicker of confusion crossed Chi Feng's eyes.
"It's something you've always wanted."
Chimu Jiu's voice was not loud, but it was filled with strength.
Chi Feng, hearing her words, looked at Chimu Jiu in astonishment, scrutinizing her closely, occasionally glancing at the figure of Du Hang behind her.
Chimu Jiu did not shy away; she met her father's probing gaze head-on.
Ji Yuyan also understood that this was definitely a significant matter.
