Pei Si finally set down the unlit cigar in his hand, replacing it with a bank card, which he once again extended towards her. Under the glow of the lights, the card shimmered with a mysterious luster.
Pei Si's voice was steady. "Miss Chi, help me win a game of chance. The amount in this card is a deposit of one hundred million for you. If we succeed, there will be another hundred million."
Chi Mu Jiu listened to Pei Si's words, her heart filled with astonishment. She slightly raised her gaze, landing it on Pei Si's cold and stern face. With her abilities, winning a game was indeed not difficult, but what kind of gamble could warrant such a hefty sum as a reward?
Her mind raced as she considered that behind such a colossal figure, there must be someone even more powerful than Pei Si himself. With this thought, Chi Mu Jiu hesitated again. Getting involved in such a gamble undoubtedly meant stepping into a whirlpool filled with unknown risks.
Yet given the current situation, it seemed she had no choice but to agree to Pei Si's proposal. She had no other options and could only brace herself for what lay ahead.
"Fine, but President Pei, I hope this is our first and last collaboration in gambling," Chi Mu Jiu replied coldly.
Pei Si appeared taken aback by Chi Mu Jiu's words; a hint of surprise flickered in his enchanting blue eyes before he quickly regained his composure. "Rest assured, Miss Chi. Once the gamble is complete, we will act as if we have never met."
His words carried an undeniable decisiveness. However, Chi Mu Jiu shook her head, her eyes filled with distrust and skepticism.
"I don't quite believe what you say," she stated softly but clearly.
"Then what must I do for you to trust me?" Pei Si asked, slightly furrowing his brow.
After a moment of silence, Chi Mu Jiu slowly spoke, "I can win the gambling game, and naturally, I can also help President Pei lose it. No matter what you do, I won't believe you; I only trust what is tangible, like money."
Her gaze was fixed intently on Pei Si, showing no sign of retreat. After speaking, she reached out to take the card from Pei Si's hand. In that instant, she felt as if she could sense the warmth left by him on the bank card.
Pei Si's expression changed immediately, a faint smile appearing on his face. "Miss Chi, I wish us a pleasant cooperation."
In the quiet space, their eyes locked in what seemed like the beginning of a silent confrontation. "I personally came to pick up Miss Chi; you just focus on the cards. I'll handle everything else," Pei Si said with a calm and resolute tone, his gaze revealing an undeniable confidence.
"Tomorrow?" Chi Mu Jiu was momentarily taken aback, a wave of emotions surging within her. She had initially planned to agree with Pei Si to stabilize the current situation and then look for an opportunity to escape this tricky predicament. However, she never expected time to come so swiftly.
"The gambling game is the day after tomorrow; we still need some time on the road," Pei Si explained leisurely, as if everything was under his control.
"Where is it?" Chi Mu Jiu struggled to maintain her composure, trying to extract more clues from Pei Si's words.
"The largest underground casino in a certain country; Miss Chi should be familiar with it," Pei Si's words carried a hint of excitement.
Chi Mu Jiu understood immediately; she had indeed been there once. The situation and environment were incredibly complex, filled with various characters and unknown dangers. Compared to an ordinary casino, it was worlds apart—a different realm altogether.
"Then I need some time to handle things here." Despite the air conditioning in the car not being too high, Chi Mu Jiu felt cold sweat trickling down her back.
"Of course, no problem. Then, Miss Chi, we'll see you soon."
As Pei Si's words fell, the car door was slowly pushed open from the outside.
The bright light from the outside world flooded in instantly.
Chi Mu Jiu stepped out of the car. She straightened her back, her gaze unwavering as she stared straight ahead, not bothering to look back to see if the car had driven away or if the people inside were still watching her.
At this moment, there was only one thought in her mind: to get away from this place as quickly as possible.
