He didn't care about anything else; he just wanted to vent his frustrations. Binding Pei Si wasn't enough; he also wanted to drag his father out for a spin.
A few luxurious cars, gleaming with radiant light and displaying sequential license plates, were neatly lined up beneath the gambling district building, resembling a lavish convoy made of steel beasts. These vehicles exuded an impressive aura, each representing boundless wealth and power.
Outside the entrance of the gambling area, a dense crowd stood not as ordinary tourists or onlookers, but as a group armed with various weapons. They were either burly men with stern faces or sharp-eyed mercenaries. From their formation and distinctive attire, it was easy to discern that two completely different factions had gathered here.
Despite knowing that this place was protected by someone as powerful as Du Hengyan, Chi Mu Jiu still felt uneasy. She was certain she wouldn't suffer any harm. However, when she looked through the car window and saw the pairs of eyes locking onto her vehicle, she couldn't shake off her apprehension.
Du Hengyan noticed her nervousness and gently rubbed her head, his tender gesture seemingly soothing all her unease. "Don't be afraid; these are all my people," he said in a deep voice that carried a reassuring charm.
"I'm not scared, but I have one request," Chi Mu Jiu replied timidly.
"What is it?" Du Hengyan raised an eyebrow, curious about what she would ask.
"Could you please not carry me out in front of so many people?" Chi Mu Jiu blinked earnestly.
Du Hengyan was momentarily speechless. It seemed he had overthought things, assuming she was afraid of the scene when in fact, she was worried about embarrassing herself further.
After a moment, he exited the car, and Chi Mu Jiu finally let out a slow breath of relief. However, the next second, Du Hengyan swiftly scooped her up with one hand just as she was about to get out.
"You Du Hengyan!!"
Chi Mu Jiu's eyes widened, her face a mix of shock and embarrassment.
This is truly humiliating, she thought through gritted teeth. She wished she could find a crack in the ground to hide in; it was utterly mortifying.
She buried her head into Du Hengyan's neck, trying to conceal her flushed face. The heat radiating from her conveyed her embarrassment to him.
Without hesitation, Du Hengyan held her as if she were a child and strode into the casino. This action drew surprised yet knowing looks from those around them.
Word spread! The boss really has a delicate little wife who can't even walk on her own!
Someone in the crowd shouted this, and Chi Mu Jiu felt as if the world around her was spinning. She opened her mouth but found herself at a loss for words to retort.
Chi Mu Jiu felt completely at his mercy.
A few of Du Hengyan's trusted aides were already waiting outside the hall on the second floor. Upon seeing their boss carrying his wife out of the elevator, they stepped forward to report.
Another aide respectfully handed him a gun.
"Boss, everything is secure inside; the brothers are keeping a close watch."
"Yes, everyone stay alert and be careful with the firearms," Du Hengyan's tone turned serious.
The door to the gaming room swung open from the outside.
"Thank you for your patience, everyone. My wife overslept and arrived a bit late."
Du Hengyan's calm voice resonated in the room, where several people had already been feeling anxious; now they were on edge, their gazes fixed on the entrance.
Du Hengyan entered confidently, one arm securely holding his beloved while his other hand gripped the gun tightly. His eyes held a chilling coldness and fierce intensity that instilled fear, an oppressive aura pressing down upon everyone present.
Even Pei Jin, who was prepared for this encounter across the table, looked slightly uneasy.
Boss Du, I've long admired your reputation.
